OVERALL GOALS
1) To see how many people can hold a duck in a single day!, 2) To make money for
the project, 3) Provide information about the project, and 4) obtain band recovery
information.
TIMELINE
5am—Meet at Convention Center to band wood ducks, leave at 5:30
9:00am—Meet at Convention Center to check nesting boxes, leave at 9:30
11am—Doors open for kids crafts and band raffle registration
1pm—Meal is served
1:30pm—Presentation begins and dessert served
2:30 pm—Live auctions, silent auctions, and raffles
4PM—Event ends (tentative), can stay later if would like to talk about project
LUNCH
Will consist of spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. Dessert will be a combination of
baked goods and ice cream. Beverages, including beer on tap, soda, water, and
wine will be provided.
NOTE
By participating in this event, acknowledges that photos can be taken and used for
future events.
WOOD DUCK BANDING
1) It doesn’t always happen!! But we’ll try!
2) Must bring ticket to participate.
3) Meet at 5am at Convention center and plan on carpooling to keep number of vehicles to minimum. Leave at 5:30am.
4) Will split into 3 groups.
5) All properties are different, some places you can see net shoot. At other sites,
may wait to hear nets, then come help.
6) As mentioned, duck captures are not guaranteed. If one fails, we will move
group to a successful capture to help band.
7) All on private land, not held for liabilities. Please respect private lands.
8) We will end this field trip at 9am to begin nest box field trips. For those continuing to nest box checks, you will begin immediately without going back to convention center. Bring your own snacks and drinks.
9) Lastly, again, it doesn’t always happen, but we’ll try! Ducks frequently outsmart
us.
NEST BOX CHECKING
1) Must bring ticket to participate.
2) For participants who attended duck banding, they
can continue with leaders. For people just starting the
day, meet at Convention Center at 9:00 to depart by
9:30am.
3) We will supply all needed materials.
4) Please plan on carpooling to minimize number of vehicles.
5) All occurs on private lands, not responsible for liabilities, please respect private lands.
6) We will complete checking nesting boxes by 11.
KIDS STUFF
1) Kids are encouraged to participate in all activities
2) There will be wood duck cutout painting for kids at
convention center from 11am until lunch is served
3) There will be a kids raffle with many kids items

4) Kids gun – youth 20 gauge Remington 870 synthetic

ACTIVITIES AT CONVENTION CENTER
1) Field trips will leave Convention Center at 5:30am
for rocketnetting and at 9:30 for nest box checking
2) Doors will open at 11am for the remainder of the
day
3) There will be 2 activities occurring between 11am
and lunch being served at noon

WOOD DUCK BAND RAFFLE
1) For raffle ticket, either the real bands need to be shown, or a clear photo showing the plastic
band code is required. However, a person can receive a raffle ticket for each band in our database which was reported in their own name even if they don’t bring it to event.
2) Need to be present to win.
3) For all purposes, an individual wood duck counts as a single band. That is, even though wood
ducks in Fallon are usually banded with 2 bands and maybe a webtag, these two bands or
webtag cannot be split to gain multiple admissions or raffle tickets. For example, if you bring
in a photo or the real plastic band, you will gain a raffle ticket.; but if someone else brings the
metal band associated with that same bird, they cannot receive anything. Birds which only
had a single webtag also qualify as a unique bird.
4) We will have a separate admission line for people who bring in bands. Please move to that
line when you arrive.
5) We will have our database on computers to look up bands which have been reported. If reported, no other questions will be asked. If not reported, we will have a few simple questions including your name, address, location shot, date shot, and if an attempt was made to
report the band. Regardless of being reported or not, you will receive one raffle ticket for
each banded wood duck.
6) Only wood duck bands or webtags from the Fallon Wood Duck project can be used. No other
duck species can enter. No wood duck bands which were banded in another state can enter.
Bands which are from this project, but shot in another state can enter.
7) Bands used in the 2014 raffle cannot be used in the 2015 raffle.
8) Bring all the wood duck bands you have. Each unique duck gets an additional raffle ticket.
8) Why are we doing this? We work hard to band wood ducks in the Fallon area and we are do-
ing this raffle to obtain as many band reports as possible, and we hope to inform you more
about the project.
9) Prizes: First prize is $500 cash, 2nd is $250, 3rd is $125, 4th is $70, 5th is $35, and 6th is $20
for a grand total of $1000 in cash. We really appreciate the cooperation of hunters for this
project and this raffle is just for you!
