Feedback is essential to learning and growing for all of us. Yet, it can be difficult to receive feedback and, oddly enough, even
more difficult to give feedback. Throw in some real or perceived power imbalance often present when working with senior
level leaders, and it is no wonder the mere thought of executive feedback makes some of us cringe. The focus of this session
will be on how we can establish relational foundations that provide more space for two-way dialogue and meaningful feedback
with executives. Participants will walk away with specific techniques for using the 3Ps (purpose, people, process) to optimize
feedback interactions with their executive leadership.
Kevin Kearns Psy.D, is the system director of leadership development and consulting for the University of Colorado
Health. With a highly pragmatic and borderline-contrarian approach, Kevin has the opportunity to help leaders strive for
improved performance on a daily basis. He holds a Doctorate in psychology with a specialization in organizational leadership
and a Masters in organizational development. His dissertation research focused on the correlation of executive function,
optimism, and affect in nurse leaders.

Jeff Carney has been an outstanding Region Manager and training consultant with Franklin Covey since 1987. In addition to
managing a sales and consultant team, Jeff teaches several Franklin Covey workshops, including FOCUS, the 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, the Speed of Trust, and the 4 Disciplines of Execution. His passion and love for what he does is clear to all
those who come in contact with him. Jeff works with a variety of clients representing industries such as retail, transportation,
biotechnology, healthcare, real estate, gas and oil, and defense. He also works with various government agencies and non-profit

In conflict situations, trust between parties has eroded and a breakdown in communication has occurred. In this interactive
workshop participants will learn about the Johari Window, a communication model that is used to improve understanding
between individuals. There are two key ideas behind the tool:

That, with the help of feedback from others, you can learn about yourself and come to terms with personal issues.

Keynote Address
Why sit on the sidelines of life? No matter your situation—full time, part time, work
from home or stay at home, married, single, kids or not—there are always
opportunities to better your work and home life. Are you ready when those
opportunities present themselves? Emmy Award winning TV sports anchor, radio
host and realtor, Susie Wargin has spent a lot of time reporting from the sidelines.
She has observed hundreds of gifted athletes who rarely, or never, get in the game.
Why? They have the physical ability, however something is missing mentally.
Attitude? Lack of leadership? Or perhaps they don’t love what they do, who they are
and those around them. Going through the motions is transparent and coaches
notice. Same holds true in the “real world.” Susie has refused to live her life on the
sidelines. To win the game of Life, you must love what you do, who you are and your
support system. Top off all that love with faith and the knowledge you will be taken care of, provided you also take care of
others. Not only will you be IN the game, you will win on every level. Susie has spent over 22 years in a gender-dominated
industry, while managing a family of four, full-time jobs, full-time egos, and training for endurance athletic events. Find out how
she harmonizes home, work and “Susie-time” without compromising any of the three.
Susie Wargin was born in Denver and raised in Broomfield, Colorado. She began her communications career in Fort Collins as
an intern in radio, while attending college at Colorado State University. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in speech
communications from CSU, a radio station hired her to push buttons for syndicated broadcasts. Like most 22 year olds that get
into radio, her dream was to be a DJ on the FM Dial. In December 1992 she was asked to work a Christmas Day shift no one
wanted on Channel 93.3. From there Susie worked three years of overnights and weekends as an FM DJ. During this time she
also worked in the promotions department, waited tables, and started a mobile DJ business. In November of 1995, opportunity
knocked and Susie became the midday DJ at KBPI in Denver, where she "Rocked the Rockies" for almost 9 years. While Susie
loves music, her main passion is sports. In February of 1998 she began doing sports updates during "The Zoo" on 850-KOA and
eventually became the first full-time female sports reporter for KOA. She also spent two years as the radio sideline reporter for
Colorado State football games before being hired at 9 News. Susie joined 9NEWS in September of 2001 as the high school prep
sports reporter. Three years later, after hosting the "Prep Rally", the Sonny Lubick Show and filling in for the guys, Susie was
hired to be the morning weekday sports anchor, which she did for nine years. These days, Susie is a Realtor, afternoon host on
KOA from 3-5pm and continues to fill in anchor, report and work on special projects with 9News. Believe it or not, the
combination gives her great flexibility to enjoy a lot of time with her family. Susie's married to Mike and they have two children,
Justin and Samantha. She enjoys competing in triathlons, running and biking events, as well as skiing with her family.

Long gone are the days of Miss Manners and etiquette classes that provided a common means for respectful interaction within
society. Self-centered behavior and inaccurate beliefs about “rights” abound among employees. Employees often come to work
with an attitude of personal freedom that frequently is at odds with employment policies. This session addresses an
employer’s right to prohibit inappropriate conduct and maintain the work environment best suited to its needs.
Todd Fredrickson is managing partner of Fisher & Phillips, LLP’s Denver office. He also serves as Chair of the firm's Diversity
and Inclusiveness Committee. His practice involves representing employers in various matters arising under such laws as Title
VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act, the Age
Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and the Fair Labor Standard Act. He was recognized as an Employment Law –
Management Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America for 2014. Todd was also selected as a BTI Consulting Group Client
Service All-Star for 2011 and he has been named the "People's Choice" selection as the Best Employment Lawyer in Barrister's
Best by Law Week Colorado every year since 2011.
