the housing sector.
While receiving the
award, Dr. Mohan Ninawe said, “This
award is an honour and
tribute to CIDCO – the
Planning Agency. CIDCO has planned and
developed Navi Mumbai with a vision to develop an ultra modern
advanced city. And the
recent citizen centric
approaches towards
transparent administrative services have
been leading efficient
ernment Organisations to build affordable
homes for the citizens.
There have been many
complaints that many
flats are lying vacant
as people are not in a
hurry to buy homes.
This is because of the
rising cost of homes
which are higher than
the expectations of the
citizens. Only 30% of
the population are able
to buy homes with eminent facilities and services. Hence, affordable
homes in a need of an
hour, homes should be
constructed in such a
way that people opt to
purchase it.

By Vikram Gaikwad
NAVI MUMBAI: There

In a bid to clear off

NMMC has announced
that Patil who is currently serving in Accountancy department

Police register complaint against
woman for interfering in Police duty
By Vikram Gaikwad
TURBHE: Turbhe
MIDC police has registered a complaint
against a woman, Anita Kasabe (35) for interfering with police work;
meanwhile she alleges
that the police officers
manhandled her.
Anita Kasabe, who
complained to police
about some of the police
officers assaulting her,
lives in the vicinity of
Turbhe stores. Her 24
year son was reported
to have been drunk and
causing disturbance in
KKR road in Turbhe
MIDC area on Saturday. For which the police had been summoned to inspect and
take charge. Once the
police caught him and
were going to take him
into custody, Anita, in
order to prevent them
from doing so, confronted the police and started interfering while hitting several officers.
Accordingly, the police
summoned a female officer in order to solve
the issue; however Kasabe started abusing
them as well. During
the commotion, she
seemed to have lost her
footing and fell down
said the police team
present at the scene.
Kasabe’s story however
differentiates from that
of the police; she alleges that the officers
present on duty harassed her and not the
other way around. Due
to her injury she has
been admitted to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the
news about a single female being assaulted by
some Turbhe police officers reached the ears
of public, who in order
tor of Upper ward one
to bring more transparency in budget and had
been successful in tackling several obstacles
with the same. Dr. Suhas Shinde’s call for
resignation from the
post however had been
received from many
sources for various
matters. Therefore, for
mean time the responsibility of Chief Finance
and Accounts Officer
has been designated to
Patil.
Meanwhile,
she alleges
to have been
assaulted
by them
to protest launched a
rally against Turbhe
police. The police pacified the crowd that it
would investigate the
matter thoroughly before taking any serious
action. A case against
her and her son however has been registered
for disturbing peace and
interfering in Police’s
duties.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem.
As he rode into the city

people of Jerusalem

The World Theatre Day-2015

it is that kind of theater, one which is

which finds its end in

those on the stage and
those in the audience,
and I wish that with all

In recent years, India’s cricketers have
not often been reduced
to spectators on the big
stage. In the four ICC
tournaments before
this World Cup they
had won two – the 2011

final of another, the

closest most of them

and defeat are part and
parcel of a game but
the way people reacted
on the defeat is shameful. Whats app messages were full of comments about Anushka

and Virat Kohli and
they made her responsible for the defeat.
The scene in every
house was full of silence, awful and
numbing. That hollow
and empty feeling emanating from the pit of
your stomach as you
lost every hope in life.
Visions of cheering

can be heard clearly
outside – roaring like
a tropical cyclone. The
TV is no longer worth
watching. Like when a

stare at you helplessly
as all your friends just
shuffle out of the house

Administrative reforms
This writer had the misfortune of his photograph, which was appearing in the voters
list in the earlier editions, being removed a
few years ago. It has not been appearing in
the last two or three editions. All the efforts
made during the last two elections to get it
restored have proved futile! Whom shall one
complain? A teacher in an Airoli school has
not been getting her salary for the last over
four years because of some discrepancy in
records! She is fortunate in having her husband well employed. Otherwise, she would
have starved! There are thousands of buildings in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai waiting to
get NOC. No one is accepting responsibility
for the delay in issuing them. All these are
happening because of the callous attitude of
the staffers. Our governments are amorphous bodies where individual employees
remain anonymous. That helps them to shirk
responsibility. All that is demanded of them
is signing the attendance register; they are
assured of their salary, increment, bonus and
retirement benefits. But what about the public whom they are supposed to serve? Probably, that is the area where administrative
reforms are needed first and foremost. To
begin with, every person down to the level of
a clerk or a peon should be assigned an identity number on the lines of the PAN number
or the Adhaar number which remains unchanged irrespective of whether the person
is transferred or promoted. Secondly, every
employee should be made to carry his name
and ID number on his lapel. He or she should
also be made to display the same on his or
her desk so that a visitor knows with whom
he is dealing. With computerization almost
complete to the village level, that must be
possible. Such identification will make it possible to fix responsibility for every decision
taken or bypassed. At the moment, it is not
possible to pin point who committed the mischief of removing the photograph. With a
proper identification system, it must be possible to know about the person who made or
unmade a particular entry. Hopefully, that
will bring some discipline among our public
employees.

Unsung...
Dhoni denied himself
that as he plotted what
deserves to be remembered as one of India’s
best World Cup campaigns. And yet there
are idiots back home

what about other
games?
A news shared on
Facebook showed a photo of the Kabaddi team

hands waiting for an
auto-rickshaw. No one
went for their reception.
This is our country and
media is also to be
blamed. How the channels cover cricket, how
they hanker after the
sting operations of Aam
Admi Party, but there is
no space for these real
heroes of our own Indian game. I blame people
also for being not aware
of the games of our soil.
If we are hankering after these western imports India cannot regain the lost glory.

Limits of autonomy
Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party
may be right in removing Prashant Bhushan
and Yogendra Yadav from the highest decision making body of the party. A political
party has been described as ‘a body of like
minded people always trying to capture power’. That does not leave much scope for dissent. But his decision to remove Admiral
Ramdas from the post of party’s Lokpal
(whatever its worth!) does not fall under the
same category. A Lokpal, like a judge, should
be bipartisan. He should not belong to any
political party or subscribe to any political
ideology. In fact, association with any ideology at once disqualifies him or her for the
post. Such an appointment will hit at the roots
of justice. By removing Ramdas, Kejriwal has
done precisely that. It has taken much of
the sheen out of his party. Medha Patkar has
rightly decided to dissociate herself from the
party. We are sure many more will follow suit.

4 arrested for assaulting cops
By Vikram Gaikwad
TURBHE: Four persons have been arrested for assaulting two
policemen in separate
incidents on Sunday
and Monday.
In the first incident
on Sunday night, constable Jamghare of
Kharghar police station was passing Satyam Heritage society

Sector-10
Kharghar. He saw the
watchman of the build-

the accused Dipak Mohan Patil (28). As the
quarrel was ranging,
Jamghare intervened
in an effort to find a
settlement and establish peace but the accused was not willing.
Instead set upon the
constable and started
assaulting him. And
within minutes, he
had fled from the spot
leaving the constable
wondering. Kharghar
police then registered
a complaint against
Patil and arrested him
on the charge of assaulting a government
servant on duty.
In the second incident on Monday afternoon, traffic constable

Remarkable performance by
Kum. Raksha Sankaranarayanan
By Lakshman Sundar
NAVI MUMBAI: Navi
Mumbai based Kum.
Raksha Sankaranarayanan regaled the audience at SIES College
Lord Hanuman Temple
last week. The temple
was celebrating a week-
long Sri Ramanavami
Festival. For more than
two hours Kum. Raksha transported the attendees virtually to Ayodhya during Lord Rama’s days. She is
blessed with a rich
voice, crystal clear diction and a vast repertoire. Even those circumambulating the temple were attracted into
attending the concert
by her sheer melodious
voice. It was her musical tribute to Lord
Rama. In doing so she
brought to life many
famous composers who
were also devotees of
Lord Rama.
Kum. Raksha began with a brisk
‘Bhajameshri’ in the
raagam Hamsadhvani
composed by Shri. Tulasivanam. She wisely
selected immortal compositions and presented
them so eloquently.
They included Saint
Thygaraja’s ‘Sujana
Jeevana’ in Raagam
Kamas, ‘Rama Neve’
(Narayani), ‘Sala Kallala’ (Aarabi), ‘Seethamma’ (Vasantha) and
‘Bala Kanaka’ (Atana).
Shri. Pattanam
Subramani
Iyer ’s
‘Mariveradi’(Lathangi),
Shri. Poochi Srinivasa
Iyengar’s ‘Parama Pavana’ (Purvikalyani)
and
Oothukadu
Vnkatasubbaiyer’s ‘Kalyana Rama’ (Hamsanaadam) were also sung
with great fervor. She
had also sung a few famous Marathi Abhangs
which further embellished her concert.
Kum. Raksha ended
her mellifluous concert
with an Utsava Sampradaya Kriti of Sri
Thyagaraja in Raagam
Anandabhairavi
Instrumental accompanists
Shri.
Anand Prasad on the
violin and Shri. Vinod
on the Mirudangam
gave good support.
At the end all felt
that Kum. Raksha
could have continued
for some more time. It
was indeed a memorable concert of very high
quality. Although
young, she performed
like a musical maestro.
Kum. Raksha is
sure to make an indelible mark in the world
of Carnatic Music for
she has immense talent, passion to perform
