CHECK OUT LAVA MAE Shower in a converted retired MUNI bus.
http://www.lavamae.org/ About Lava Mae’s Founder Doniece Sandoval: Driven by a fierce belief that everyone has a right to
dignity and the knowledge that access to showers and sanitation are in serious short supply for the homeless, Doniece was
compelled to start Lava Mae. Mission: To deliver dignity and unlock opportunity for those experiencing homelessness — one
mobile shower at a time. Fundamental to this mission are three beliefs:
1. Everyone has the right to be clean. 2. Those experiencing homelessness can’t access jobs and housing or maintain health and
wellbeing if they can’t get clean. 3. With hygiene comes dignity; with dignity, opportunity.

Very sad news.
St. Vincent De Paul’s Wellness Center is
closing on April 30th. Here is the notice.
Wellness Center Closure Notification
Please be advised that the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco is discontinuing operations of
the Wellness Center as of April 30th.
We realize that this is a short timeline in which to unwind our services and that it might be a difficult
transition. We intend to be in regular communication with you and our many partners during the
process in hopes of minimizing the challenges everyone will face during this time.
Like so many other non-profits, the Society must reduce budget deficits in order to continue with our
remaining services. We will be focusing on sustainability, mission alignment and ways to deliver client
services in the coming months.

Broke but not Bored sends a big thank you
to the SVDP wellness center for creating a
welcoming, peaceful and loving space for
our community and we are very sorry to

Most guys come to PLUS looking for info. We invite experts to present on a range of topics about living healthy with HIV.
Sessions typically include HIV Treatment, HIV Life Cycle, Mental Health, Nutrition, Self-Advocacy, and Sexually Transmitted
Infections, among others. Participants also learn from each other's experiences.
While most come for info, they leave a weekend at which they felt totally supported. Four times during the weekend, the
educational sessions break into small groups that offer participants an opportunity to give and get support. Facilitated by
guys who have been through PLUS in the past, the small support sessions provide a space of unconditional acceptance,
arguably the most important part of PLUS.
For two decades, the Positive Living for Us Seminar (PLUS) has been a key component of the HIV services landscape in San
Francisco. PLUS combines support and info into one inspiring weekend for gay, bisexual, and transgender men who are
new to dealing with HIV, whether newly diagnosed or addressing HIV in a new way, and their allies.
One PLUS participant had this to say about the seminar:
“I just wanted to send you a thank-you for a great weekend. As I said at the closing circle, I got exactly what I was looking
