The meeting was for the purpose of ascertaining the presiding elders salary and assessing each charge in the district according to their ability to pay. There was an unusually large attendance, owing to the fact that this distrct has a great deal of new territory attached, and now embraces moat of the Murfreesboro dis trict which was transferred from the Vir ginia CoDference. It is also a fact worthy of meotloD that every charge from the new territory was represented, while only three on this side of the Roanoke sent delegates.
