Paint Your Parking Spot Information

Paint your spot
fundraiser
The Jist
• Next year we are offering only the seniors the
opportunity to paint their own parking spot.
• Yes, this means you would have your own
parking spot for the entire school year
customized by you.
• Trouble visualizing? Let me show you a few
examples from other schools 
Paint your spot
How it works
• On Mrs. Wallace’s desk in the high school office there is a form (Paint your
Spot Registration form) that you will need to fill out to be entered into the
lottery.
• The lottery is open May 11th-27th.
• You must return this completed form with a cash payment to Mr. Gilmore
no later than May 27th. He will be accepting payments before school, after
school, and during 1st period.
•
If you don’t want to paint you can still get a permanent spot. You just need
to fill out the registration form and return it to Mr. Gilmore with the $5
parking permit fee in cash by May the 27th to be entered into the lottery.
• We will only be accepting cash as payment.
• You will find out your assigned spot when you come to paint.
The Details
• When: Designated days to paint, August 3rd-6th,
from 9am to 9pm
• Where: The senior lot and the first row in the
student section.
• Why: There are two basic objectives for this
fundraiser: The first objective is to raise funds for
student council (which then gets used towards
Northwestern students and the community) and
second objective is to promote school spirit.
Tips
•
Paint is expensive. Ask family, neighbors, and grandparents if they have any paint
lying around that they aren’t using. You can usually get it tinted at the hardware
store.
•
Hardware stores usually have paint in the clearance section of custom colors that
people have chickened out on using. These paints are deeply discounted.
•
Talk to your friends about what colors they are using and then go into together on
the paint.
•
Simplify your design = more colors, more money.
•
Contact the Kokomo Habitat for Humanity set up a time to see how much paint
they have (the warehouse is usually open on Tuesdays from 8:30-12:00 . 765-4522185
•
The Restore in Westfield also sells paint at a greatly discounted rate. Their hours
vary so please call first You might want to call first to see if there is a lot of paint
available. 317-896 9423
SENIOR PARKING LOT PAINTING RULES
9 AM to 9 PM
August 3r to August 6th
Use the template provided to chalk in your paint area and create a 12 inch border from all white lines and 12
inches above your parking spot number.
Paint with any household interior or exterior paint. Latex paint works the best. NO SPRAY PAINT IS TO BE USED!
DO NOT PAINT ON ANY CURB that is attached to your space.
Keep your paint inside your own spot!
Make sure that whatever you paint is school appropriate—if it isn’t, NHS will paint over your spot in black and it
will remain black for the entire school year. Moreover, you will NOT receive a refund.
Please take care of all of your painting supplies when you are done. DO NOT leave any paint cans or trash on the
parking lot! Do not use the restrooms to clean out brushes or wash your hands. Have everything that you will need
(wipes, baggies, cups, etc.) on site.
If you create a barrier around your spot while it dries to keep foot traffic out, do not use paint cans. Return a few
hours later to pick up your barrier.
If you make a mess, CLEAN IT UP!
Do not splatter paint on your spot or use spray paint. It will make a mess and will be hard to clean up!
