After graduating from college, Bob joined the insurance business working for several companies including Mutual of Omaha, AIG (American International Group), located in San Francisco and Cigna Corporation. Bob retired in 2013. He volunteers at the Senior Center and is able to play more golf (which he obviously enjoys; he’s pretty good). He and his wife Kathee enjoy travelling. They have 4 grandchildren, 2 girls and 2 boys all living in Omaha. We welcome Bob and his wife Kathee. Bob receives his membership certificate presented by President Gus LeMaster, his sponsor Felix Lucero and Treasurer and advisor to the President, Joe Addison. It’s great to add new members. Thanks to Felix. We now have 42 members. Volume 27.9 3 June 2015 Larry Dwyer visited us last year and spoke on the life of Abraham Lincoln and his role in selecting Council Bluffs as the Eastern Terminus for the Union Pacific Railroad. Larry graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1971 with a major in History and from The Creighton University School of Law in 1974. Larry is not only an excellent lawyer but also a historian, doing in depth studies on Abraham Lincoln and Chief Standing Bear. Larry spoke to us again this past week on the famous Trial of Ponca Chief Standing Bear which took place in downtown Omaha in 1879. In this landmark civil rights case, the Federal Court for the first time declared an Indian to be a “person” in the eyes of the law, eligible to apply to the Federal Court for a redress of grievances. Larry specializes in estate planning and estate settlements. He is the author of 7 books on estate planning and elder law topics. The ALLPLAY Miracle league is now in session. Game Day Volunteers are needed for Saturday, June 6th. West Omaha Diamond K and Golden K will serve in the various tasks needed to have a successful day at the park. Volunteers are needed for field set-up and take-down, PA system announcers, concession stand workers, umpires and greeters. This is great way to support this great baseball program.
