Site Assessment Work
Client: McCarthy & Stone
NLP helped deliver planning permissions within a four
month period for 26 high quality, sheltered buildings.
These buildings provided 320 much-needed rooms and
meeting these tight timescales required close public and
private sector liaison.
NLP assisted in evaluating the future of three existing
care facilities. This included an assessment of schemes’
performance against the McCarthy and Stone’s site
selection requirements through the use of Spatial
Mapping. The reports prepared for each site were then
used to determine whether the schemes should be
retained.

Grove Farm Care Community, Monmouthshire
Slater Street, Middleport
Client: Mr Jones
Client: ID4 Living and Sanctuary Housing Association
NLP is currently working on behalf of the private
landowner of a greenfield site on the outskirts of
Abergavenny in Monmouthshire on what could be the first
care village in Wales.
NLP and architect PRP Architects secured full planning
permission for a residential and extra-care development
at Middleport, Stoke-on-Trent. The proposal for 142
homes made use of an existing Victorian street layout,
which remained following clearance of 250 terraced
properties. The extra care element consists of 80
dwellings with communal facilities and landscaped
gardens. The one and two-bed extra care dwellings are a
mix of shared ownership and rental properties.
The proposal is for an innovative mixed-use care
community which will serve a wide range of care needs
through various stages of retirement. NLP coordinated
community consultation events, promoted the site
through the Monmouthshire emerging Local Development
Plan and is preparing a planning submission.
