Journey Into Space
Tap into your child’s potential by encouraging their curiosity and creativity with
Bricks 4 Kidz®. Kids can learn and grow with our fun-filled model plans, which are
designed just for us by architects and engineers! Our unique kits reinforce S.T.E.M.
based principles while using LEGO® Bricks.
NOR will be hosting a new camp for children ages 6-12 at Greenacres Community
Center. All camps will offer a new project if you wish to sign up your kids for more
than one camp. Each camp is Monday - Friday from 9am to 12noon or 1pm to
4pm. The cost is $159 resident fee and $164 for non-residents. This camp will be
instructed by local school Principal Alex Soriano who is passionate about teaching
children while making it fun and exciting for them.

Pull Back Car Frenzy
Pullback Car Frenzy is an enrichment course designed to stimulate
problem solving and creativity using new and innovative ideas.
This course is jam packed with science! Students will build up to
10 cars using a design pamphlet for each vehicle. Students become
Mini-Engineers challenged to design new vehicles utilizing pieces
from supplied cars. Over the course of the class students
participate in experiments designed to demonstrate science and
engineering concepts and laws such as gravity, potential energy
and kinetic energy. **Students TAKE HOME every project!**

These four-day basketball skills camps will be instructed by former NBA player
Winston Crite. Winston played basketball at South High where he won a Central
Section title, was the All-Area Player of The Year, and an All Northern California first
team selection. He attended Texas A&M University on a basketball scholarship and
earned All SWC honors all four years; winning two championships and the SWC
Tournament MVP his senior year. Selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 56th pick
in the 1987 draft, he played two years in the league before leaving for Europe (Italy,
Spain, and France). He continued to make all-star teams, win Championships, and
earn MVP’s for nine more years before retiring in 1998. Today, Winston is the owner/
operator of the Footwork Shop basketball development program
(www.footworkshop.com) and Footwork Elite AAU Basketball Club.

In this introductory class on shooting, Winston helps players understand the true mechanics of shooting a basketball. Using techniques he developed over 30 years in the
sport, he takes the mystery out of shooting the basketball and helps set a foundation
designed for young people to continue to improve for years to come.

Volleyball Skills Camp
These two day volleyball skills camps will be instructed by Kern
River Volleyball Club Director Jennifer Nickel-Romero and the
coaching staff of Kern River. Jennifer was a four time High School
Varsity MVP, three time 1st Team All-League, three-time All-Area
selection, and two-time All-CIF selection. She played collegiately
as a four-year scholarship athlete as a setter for Cal State Bakersfield. Her CSUB Lady Roadrunners squads were three-time NCAA
Division II Elite Eight finishers and Finalist twice.

Adventure Camp
Come join us for a fun filled adventure! Each week has a theme day on Fridays.
For maximum summer fun we include movie Mondays, crafts, games, sports,
swimming and silly activities Monday through Friday. All activities will be supervised
by professionally trained CPR staff. A light snack will be provided each day.
Campers must bring a lunch.

Tiny Tots - This is an hour long combination class of ballet and tap. Students ages 2-4
will learn the basic skills for both styles of dance along with coordination, rhythm,
memorization, vocabulary, and social skills. (ONE class per week) Ages 2-4.
Beginning Ballet - Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and it provides grace,
poise and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Our classes
will emphasize the development of classical ballet skills with a focus on proper
placement and alignment. Students will learn ballet vocabulary through barre and
center work while building strength and flexibility. (ONE class per week) Ages 5 and
up.
Beginning Tap - Tap is a percussive style of dance. Students will learn the
fundamentals of tap including rhythm, coordination, patterns, combinations and
choreography. (ONE class per week) Ages 5 and up.
Beginning Jazz - Jazz dance style covers the most territory of all. It encompasses a
wide variety of other styles of dance. Jazz is an upbeat, stylish, versatile dance form.
This class includes strengthening warm ups, stretching techniques to elongate and
encourage muscle strength, across the floor movement, and leaps and turns.

Rock Climbing
Learn rock climbing techniques experiencing mind, body strength and
balance. A hands-on adventure in rock climbing.
You learn tying knots, climbing commands and signals. Each week you
will climb in Riverview’s own specialized climbing gym
featuring 16 foot walls with overhangs, cracks, pockets, edges, pitches,

Disc Golf
IT’S A WALK IN THE PARK WITH A POINT!
Try this exciting and popular sport, played similarly to golf but with
“Frisbee-like” discs. In partnership with Kern County Disc Golf Club, we have now
expanded to offer an 18-hole course with different tee locations. The course is
located in Riverview Park, 401 Willow Dr.
Pick up a FREE score card in the Riverview Community Center.
No fee required.

MOMMY and ME
Tot sports help children with motor development through completing basic sport
tasks that build their motor skills. Ages 3-6. $54/$49 resident*
TOT SOCCER
This program teaches children a variety of soccer skills including:
dribbling, kicking and passing, trapping, throw-ins, and running/agility. Teamwork is
emphasized in this program. Children will learn how to play soccer in a FUN,
non-competitive environment. Parent participation is required. A field instructor will
be assigned to each team to assist parents in implementation of drills.
TOT T-BALL
Children will learn the basic skills of baseball in a FUN, non-competitive
environment. This program teaches children throwing, fielding, batting, and running/
agility. This is a parent participation program. A field instructor will be assigned to
each team to lead drills.
TOT BASKETBALL
Children will learn the basic skills of basketball in a FUN, non-competitive
environment. This instructional program teaches children a variety of basketball skills
including dribbling/ball handling, shooting, passing/catching, and running/agility.
Teamwork is emphasized. Parent participation is required. An instructor will be

A week long Olympic sports camp for children
ages 3-6. Kids will have tons of fun being
introduced to various activities including
