SUMMARY: NorthBay Media Arts’ A/V Site Manager is responsible for management and care of the audio and
visual equipment at NorthBay’s facility in North East, MD. This position also acts as the NorthBay Live Sound and
Technical Engineer - Running sound & lighting for on-stage talent, various live acts, and show elements for NB
Live throughout the week.
Ensuring proper care and use of technical equipment at NB; including inventory, maintenance, set-up, break-down
and movement of equipment at camp.
Excellent customer service and desire for the success of our student and weekend guests is paramount.
Hours: Monday-Thursday: 2pm-10pm, Friday: 11am-7pm (hours adjusted on Fridays according to weekend guest
group arrival/needs).
Salary commensurate with experience and training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Excellent customer service and desire for the success of our student and weekend guests.
• Ability to work and develop projects & initiatives along with NorthBay’s Media team as well as work independently on various projects.
• Serve NorthBay’s diverse staff and guests in areas of audio/visual production, equipment needs & training.
• NorthBay Live! (NorthBay’s nightly show focusing on character development) Technical Coordinator. Ensures
preparation and execution of audio and visual equipment for daily show.
• A/V Site Managing. Ensuring proper care and use of technical equipment at NorthBay. Inventory, maintenance,
set-up, break-down and movement of technical equipment at camp.
• NB Live Sound Engineer - Runs sound for talent and various live acts for NorthBay Live throughout the week
• Friday Guest Group Welcome and A/V Liaison: Preparing stage and equipment needs for NorthBay’s weekend &
summer guests. Welcoming program and production guests & teams to theatre and training them on use of audio
and visual equipment as needed.
• Maintenance and development of NorthBay Theatre intelligent lighting system. (Elation Emulation Software operating Varilite & Martin moving fixtures.)
• Runs all technical aspects of NB Talent Show including audio and lighting cues (Wednesday evening)
• Prepares weekly talent show roster and student requests (instruments, music, lyrics, etc.)
• Some video & audio editing/production (using current Apple software and hardware)
• Offsite Sound/Equipment Engineer
• On-stage hosting for meals & meal programming
• Various other media needs as required (DVD creation, photography, etc.)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Training, background and experience in live music production a must. Experience with and ability to troubleshoot
and repair audio and visual media equipment is required. Experience and talent in teaching/training, stage hosting,
filming, editing and video production is preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Strong communication skills required especially in the verbal realm. Ability to communicate & translate technical
information for training of audio and technical equipment is necessary.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Degree or certificate in Audio Engineering, Live Production, or the like is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel and reach
with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy audio and technical equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud determined by the number of and enthusiasm
of the campers for each particular week.
