GATEWAY H.A.S. (Health Awareness Series)
Your health and wellness is important to us here at
NBSC! This is why we have invited the Gateway Health
Awareness Series to NBSC. Each session is one hour
and educational materials will be available to all
attendees.
The first session will address:
Life Transitions: More than just a Physical
Change
Who’s that in the mirror today? Is that another ache or
stiffness in the same body? A few changes may help
increase blood flow and movement to ease those twinges
or recapture some of that energy.
 Transitions: Life Shifts
Downsizing or moving to a new home. Losing a loved
one. Discontinuing driving. Life’s milestones happen
differently for everyone and can feel overwhelming. Join
in to discuss these feelings and explore ways to manage
and respond.

NBSC AT THE THEATER
METAMORPHOSES at the Arden Theatre Based on the Myths of Ovid
Written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman
Directed by Doug Hara
From acclaimed playwright Mary Zimmerman (of Chicago’s Looking glass Theatre) comes this dazzling
adaptation of Ovid’s classic myths. A rippling, onstage pool conjures a magical world where Gods and
mortals co-exist and universal tales of fate, lost love, greed and death are shared. Tony Award-nominated
for Best Play, Metamorphoses overflows with gorgeous imagery and visionary theatricality. This is
storytelling at its finest.

REQUEST TO MEMBERS
It has come to our attention that members have been “saving seats” in the Café. We have observed
this even when a member was not coming in that day. This is especially noticeable when new
members or guests join us and they are told there is no room at the table and seats are clearly
available. Please do not save seats and most important invite new members and guests to join you at
your table. Lets continue to be welcoming to all who come to our center. Thank you, NBSC Staff.
Just a reminder—if you ride CCT to the senior center, on center trips or to your doctor, please
consider giving a donation to the NBSC/PCA transportation fund. Every dollar raised goes back
into the transportation fund to support member rides. If you need a medical ride please try and
schedule between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm. These are Septa’s less busy hours and its easier
for them to get you and pick you up on time! Thank you!!!

process PLEASE make an
appointment to meet with Stella
White ASAP. It is important we
know who is participating in our
programs and services.
Thank you for your help with keeping our
information current!
We have a professional artist in our midst!
If you see a gentleman stopping by your classes
to take pictures that’s Mr. William Kosman. He
is a local artist. We are fortunate to have one of
his beautiful paintings hanging in our parlor. His
goal is to paint a few of our members portraits,
from the pictures he takes. If all goes as planned
he will graciously give the paintings to NBSC to
display. Please welcome him to NBSC. I can’t
wait to see the finished products!!!
Happiness is a Choice, Not a Condition
Dr. Pillemer writes, “The consensus of the elders is that we can’t wait for external events to bring
about happiness.” He goes on to quote 86-year-old Cheryl who says, “I came into this world with
nothing, my experiences are only mine, and I will leave this world with nothing. The only one I can
change is myself. You must learn to create your own happiness; you cannot depend on others to do it
for you.”
