At its Annual Meeting in January, the Board of Trustees of the Museum
elected officers to preside over the Board and its activities. They are all
long-term Board members who are intent on providing first-rate museum
experiences and developing funding needed to complete the Building’s
ornamental facade and enhance its exhibition potential.

EXHIBIT
April marks150 years from
the end of the Civil War with
General Lee’s surrender
at Appomattox Courthouse
in April l865.
The Museum will host an
exhibit on the Civil War to
commemorate this event
beginning on April 18th.

19th CENTURY ENTERTAINMENT
FROM THE CIVIL WAR TO 1900
Hosted by Barry Rivadue
On loan from the Society for the Preservation
of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA), this exhibit
from their collections presents remarkable photographs of life and leisure on the North Shore.
Additional objects from the collections of the
Museum and from the Glen Cove Public Library
bring the story to Glen Cove. Also on display are
artifacts and photographs that explore the Glen
Cove Duryea Starch works and the life of
preservationist George DuPont Pratt.

Commemorating 100 years
since the start of the
“War To End All Wars”

The Treasures of the
Vanderbilt Cup Races
On March 4th, friends and members of
t h e M u s e u m we re t re at e d t o a n
entertaining and highly informative
presentation by authors Howard Kroplick
and Al Velocci about the origins of
motoring at the dawn of the 20th century.
William K. Vanderbilt, Jr. established the
Vanderbilt Cup races here on Long Island
which led to the creation of the Long
Island Motor Parkway through the
farmland of Nassau County.
Books on the Cup Races and the L.I.
Motor Parkway are available for purchase
at the Museum.
