The University has been functioning since then and growing and expanding steadily. The geographical jurisdiction of the North Gujarat University encompasses four districts-Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. PATAN a town in Patan district was chosen for the University Headquarter. Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College & Hospital, Visnagar is affiliated to the university since 2006 and it is the sole college providing dental courses in north Gujarat. Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College & Hospital was established in 2006 with an attempt to increase the dental awareness among the people of North Gujarat. Currently the college is running a B.D.S. teaching program with an intake of 100 seats and MDS PG course in all 9 branches. The institute is recognized by DCI / Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The College is situated within the heart of city & is about 80 kms from Ahmedabad. It is located in Sankalchand Patel Sahakar Vidyadham campus which is about 70 acres. The college has separate UG and PG hostel. The PG hostel consists of single occupancy A/C accommodation with well furnished facilities just in front of the college. In view of further progress towards dental awareness and to provide high standard quality treatment for the dental needs, the College has been approved by DCI for starting M.D.S. course in the following branches from the academic year 2012-13 2. COURSES The Entrance Test is going to be conducted for the following Post Graduate Courses. MODE OF ENTRANCE TEST 3.1 The entrance test will be of 2 hours duration containing one hundred fifty (150) multiple choice questions (MCQs). Questions will be objective type with four answer options. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. There shall be no negative marking for incorrect answers. The examination will be conducted in English. The entrance test shall cover all the subjects of BDS course. ELIGIBILITY 4.1 A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have completed his/her rotating internship by the 31st of May of the same year and have a degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a college and University recognized by Dental Council of India under section 10(2) of the Dentist Act, 1948 or an equivalent qualification recognized by DCI. 4.2 Candidates should have permanent registration with a State Dental Council at the time of joining the institute after admission. 4.3 Candidates not possessing a recognized Dental qualification for the above purpose must secure the prior approval of Dental Council of India before he/she can be admitted to the MDS Course. 4.4 Candidates who possess PG Diploma recognized by the DCI with the duration of 2 years (proposed) in particular specialty is eligible for admission in MDS in the same specialty and the duration will be 2 Page 5 of 10 years. The syllabus of the two years programme will be as per the concerned University guidelines and Dental Council of India. 4.5 In the case of foreign nationals, the Dental Council of India may on payment of the prescribed fee for registration grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the dental college/institution to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies. Provided that further temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered as dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic dental qualification and that his degree is recognized by the corresponding dental council or concerned authority. 4.6 A candidate who is currently engaged in Post Graduate Dental Studies in Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University or any other University or equivalent body is not eligible. On completion of the course that is after passing the University Examination for that course, he/she becomes eligible for another Post Graduate Dental Course. 4.7 Candidate has to appear in competitive entrance examination conducted in respective academic year for admission to post-graduate dental courses (M.D.S) held by Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University and should have to secure 50% marks in entrance test for seeking admission to open category seats and 40% marks in entrance test for seeking admission to SC, ST & SEBC category seats only. (Reserved candidate securing 40% or more but less than 50% in entrance test will not be eligible for open category seat even if it remains vacant.) However Open Category Candidate with locomotor disability of lower limbs who has secured 45% of marks in entrances test will be eligible for 3% locomotor disability quota only. 4.8 In case of doubt or discrepancy about the cast certificate, decision of the Director, Social Welfare, Gujarat State, shall be final authority to take decision. 4.9 The candidates who are claiming under reservation or locomotor disability quota should be a domicile of Gujarat state. 4.10 If any candidate wishes to claim admission for other than open category seats, he/she should submit details with relevant documents along with application. For allocation of seats under reservation quota i.e (SC/ST/SEBC/OPEN and PH) will be decided as per the instruction from social welfare department of Govt. of Gujarat through the Registrar, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. 4.11 Allotment of Govt. reservation seats is decided according to roster of Government of Gujarat. If the reservation seats in any of the reserve category remain vacant, they will be converted to open category seats. Still this seats remain vacant it will be filled up by management. 4.12 Reservation, roaster policy can be confirmed from social welfare department of Govt. of Gujarat through the Registrar, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. 5. ANTI RAGGING It must be noted that the college authority considers ragging a cognizable offence and will not hesitate to take strong action against the offenders. The directives of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India will be followed in case of ragging. It is as under: “As per direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Government has banned ragging completely in any form inside and outside of the campus and the institute authorities are determined not to allow any form of ragging. Whoever, directly or indirectly commits, participates in abet or instigates ragging within or outside any educational Institution, shall be suspended, expelled or rusticated from the institution and shall also be liable to fine which may extend to Rs. 10,000/-. The punishment may also include cancellation of admission, suspension from attending the classes, Page 6 of 10 withholding/withdrawing fellowship/scholarship and other financial benefits, withholding or cancelling the result. The decision shall be taken by the head of institution.” 6. CENTRE FOR ENTRANCE TEST The entrance test will be held on 12/05/2015 at the premises of Narsinhbhai Patel Dental college & Hospital, Visnagar 7. APPLICATION FORM 7.1 The Application Form, before submission, should be completed in all respects in every detail. The Application and examination fees of Rs. 8,000/- to be submitted along with the filled application form at the time of submission. The fees payment to be done in cash or DD in favor of Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College and Hospital, Visnagar No alteration or addition will be permitted later on. 7.2 The candidate appearing for the exam should submit the relevant documents (photocopy & self attested) mentioned in the application form along with duly filled form. The candidates claiming under SC, ST & SEBC & locomotor disability quota should submit the relevant documents along with the duly filled application form. The last date of availability and receipt of completed application form along with the requisite documents and entrance test fees is on 07/05/2015 up to 4.00 pm. It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that his/her application reaches the college office within the specified time & dates. 7.3 7.4 7.5 7.6 7.8 Every candidate will be issued a receipt with photograph when he/she submits his/her application form with application fees. This must be preserved for all future references and to be produced as and when required. Only those applications along with Examination Fees and required documents received up to last date will be considered. Any application received later than the last date, application with insufficient details, or required documents or required fees shall be rejected without any explanation even if it is received within date and time. If any of the statement made in the application form or any information/document supplied by the candidate in connection with the application for admission is found to be false or incorrect or misguiding or if it is found that the candidate has concealed any information/fact in connection with his application, the application form shall be rejected/his admission shall be cancelled without any notice thereof, fees forfeited and he may be expelled and prosecuted 8. HALL TICKET 8.1 Hall tickets carrying photograph of the candidate shall be issued on 11/05/2015 to the candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidates to collect their hall tickets. For this purpose the candidate must submit 2 copies of his/her recent passport size photographs. (Not more than three months old) along with the application form. They must write their name on the reverse side of the photograph. The hall ticket must be presented in the examination hall for verification of candidate’s Identity when instructed by the invigilator to do so and also at the time of counseling. The hall ticket is non-transferable. 8.2 8.3 Page 7 of 10 9. SELECTION PROCEDURE 9.1 Merit List will be prepared based on entrance test examination and reservation roaster of state Government. 9.2 Admission of candidates will be given considering following preferences. 1. 1st Preferences: seats shall be allotted to eligible candidates graduated from Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University. 2. 2nd Preferences: shall be given to eligible candidates who have graduated from universities of the Gujarat state. 3. 3rd Preferences: shall be given to eligible candidates who have graduated from other recognized Universities of India and international students of equivalent BDS degree as per norms of Dental Council of India. 9.3 Determination of inter merit of Candidate obtaining equal marks: In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the Entrance Examination, their inter se merit will be determined in order of preferences as under: 1) Candidates obtaining higher aggregate marks in all the BDS Professional Examinations. 2) According to age, the older one getting preference over younger one. 10. FEE STRUCTURE 10.1 The adhoc tuition fee for academic year 2015-2016 is Rs. 5, 20,000/- per annum (subjected to decision by fee committee). 10.2 The tuition fee for the first term will have to be paid at the time of counseling 15th May, 2015 by Cash or DD in favor of Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College & Hospital, Visnagar. Failure to pay the first term tuition fee will result in automatic cancellation of admission offered to the candidate. 10.3 The fees once paid is non-refundable 11. DECLARATION OF RESULT The result of the Entrance Test 2015-16 will be displayed on the university & college website on 12/05/2015 (www.ngu.ac.in & www.npdch.edu.in). Page 8 of 10 12. COUNSELING 12.1 12.2 12.3 12.4 At the counseling the Original documents of the eligible candidates will be verified and those found eligible will be offered admission. The candidate will have to appear for counseling at their own cost. The physical presence of the candidate at the counseling is essential. Absence of the Candidate at the specified time, date and venue will result in instantaneous forfeiture of seat. Any claim for admission thereafter will not be entertained by the college authorities. Asking a candidate to report to counseling does not mean that he/she will be admitted to course. The actual admission will depend upon the course and seat availability when his/her turn comes in order of his/her inter-se-merit. 12.5 None of the accompaniments will be returned. All original certificates, the copies of which are attached to the Application Form must be brought at the time of interview for verification. Original mark sheets of the admitted candidates will be retained by the authority. 12.6 The candidates will be called according to merit list and shall be given admission according to the choice of subjects (Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Conservative & Endodontics, Periodontology, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Public health Dentistry, Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry) if vacant according to reservation criteria as rules of the Govt. of Gujarat. 12.7 The selected & admitted candidate will have to join the college with in stipulated time of 7 days. If the candidate fails to do so as well as if he/she leaves before completion of course he/she will lose admission without giving any notice. Fees and deposits will be forfeited and will not be eligible to apply in future. 12.8 At the time of counseling candidate is supposed to produce his original documents which will be compared with the attested copies he had submitted along with the application form. If candidate fails to do so, his counseling will not be held and next candidate will be called. 12.9 After the payment of fees along with the submission of original documents, his admission will be confirmed. Inability to pay requisite fees and deposit and submission of original documents to authority will render him ineligible and the next candidate will be called. 12.10 A candidate seeking admission to the MDS Course shall register under the recognized post graduate teacher in the University. 13. DOCUMENTS The attested copies of the following documents must be submitted along with the application form for the entrance test and the originals must be submitted at the time of counseling: - School leaving certificate/ Date of Birth proof 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th BDS Mark sheets (for all attempts). Caste Certificate if applicable (SC/ST/SEBC & locomotor disability quota) from competent authority as per rules of Govt. of Gujarat. Certificates of internship completion. School leaving Certificate (2 copies) Page 9 of 10 - Certificate of Registration with State Dental Council of India. 10 passport size photographs. Identity proof in the form of government documentation. 14. GUIDELINES FOR ENTRANCE TEST 14.1 Candidate must be present at the examination hall and occupy the seat allotted to Him/her fifteen minutes before commencement of the entrance test 14.2 Fifteen minutes prior to commencement of examination the invigilator will give general Instructions on taking test 14.3 During the test the invigilator will check the identity of the candidates by referring to the hall ticket given to the candidate. 14.4 For answering the questions the candidate shall completely darken the concerned circle Related to the option which he/she feels is correct. Any other marking method will not be Accepted and no marks shall be awarded for the same. 14.5 Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. However if more than one circle is Darkened or any other marking method used no marks will be awarded. 14.6 Rough work, if any, should be done in the space provided in the test booklet. Rough work should not be done anywhere on the answer sheet. 14.7 Calculators, cellular phones and any electronic gadgets are not allowed in the Examination hall. 14.8 Smoking and Gutkha is strictly prohibited in the campus and examination hall. 14.9 No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall till the end of entrance test. 15. COURT JURISDICTION Any legal dispute arising out of conduct of Entrance Test 2015 and the admission procedure shall be subject to jurisdiction at Mehasana, Gujarat. 16. DISCLAIMER The university/college has not authorized any individuals or agencies to deal with admissions.
