Welcome to New York Circle K international
Hello and welcome to CKI. This Packet
will be your guide to the world of CKI
and the great work you will undoubtedly
do with us. I bet you are wondering,
what IS Circle K International? CKI is a
very unique organization. This
organization works to make the world a
better place by doing community
service wherever they can. CKI works on
major projects like the Eliminate Project
or the March of Dimes (these will be
explained in full later in the brochure)
together as an organization while still
promoting service in every community
that they have a club in. This club is one
that lives to help others and I know it will
show as you continue to be part of our
organization. 3|Page
The Tenets:
In Circle K international we follow 3 basic guidelines that help us figure out what
to do. We call these our three tenets: Service, Leadership, and Fellowship.
These tenets shape how CKI works and the service that we do.
Tenet # 1: Service
The main focus and objective of Circle K is service. Our members are
encouraged to serve their communities in a variety of ways including visiting
nursing homes, socializing animals, and helping at food banks. We have three
major service partners in this objective that we work with, including UNICEF,
March of Dimes, and Students Team UP to Fight Hunger. By working with these
partners and organizations in the local areas around each club, Circle K’ers
strives to make a difference for their community every day.
Tenet #2: Leadership
By promoting Leadership to our members, Circle K helps to build better,
stronger community leaders that are instilled with a solid sense of self and their
abilities. CKI makes leadership opportunities available for every member, of
every club, at every level of the organization so that each person can work
toward realizing their full potential.
Tenet #3: Fellowship
CKI is not only a club that promotes service in their community but also
fellowship and lifelong friendship between its members. From volunteering at a
soup kitchen, mentoring a local student, to just relaxing with other members
having fun CKI promotes better social skills and stronger friendship between its
members.

What are the Levels of Circle K?
There Are 5 Levels of Circle K International
Club Level: This is us!! Our clubs are made up of college students who all share
the desire to make the world a better place through service.
Division Level: Each club in your area forms a ‘Division,’ which allows them to
work with other local Circle K Clubs. Each division elects a Lieutenant Governor
to represent their division to the rest of the district.
District Level: When you combine a group of divisions in a specific area, they
form a District. Ours, for example, is the New York District which is made up of 9
Divisions: Capital, Empire, Hudson Valley, Iroquois, Liberty, Long Island, Northern,
Seneca, Southern tier, and Western. Our district has a Governor as the leader
named Kelly Chan and from the Empire Division. It is Kelly’s job to counsel the
district board members and lead the 33 clubs in the New York District.
Subregion level: This level of Circle K is comprised of different Districts
represents the different areas of Circle K International. There are 7 different
subregions: A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Each subregion has an appointed Trustee.
There is also a subregion Trustee-at-large who represents the non-districted
Circle K clubs. We are in Subregion F and it includes New York, New Jersey, New
England, Capital and Eastern Canada. Our Subregion F Trustee is Danielle
Sammut from The College of New Jersey in New Jersey.
International Level: This is the highest level of Circle K International. It consists
of over 600 clubs and 13,000 members worldwide! For this level we have an
International president and this service year this is Daniel Tsang from Illinois.

Large Scale Events
District Large Scale Service Project (DLSSP): This is an event that is held
annually by the New York District of Circle K. It is an event where everyone in
the district is invited to come to a designated location for a weekend of
Service, Fellowship, and Fun! This event is more focused on Service and
emphasizes doing service with people from all over your district, having fun,
and helping the chosen community. The place where this event is held
changes from year to year.
New York Speaking (NYS): New York Speaking is the New York District’s
annual fall conference. This event focuses on the tenet of fellowship and fosters
fellowship among members throughout the New York District, while learning a
little more about CKI in the process. This event is held annually in Lake George,
NY.
District Convention (DCON): The final event of the service year is District
convention otherwise called DCON and the main focus it has is leadership. At
this event, members from all over the district come and learn about important
leadership roles, how to run an effective meeting and much more through
workshops. Additionally delegates from each Club will elect the new District
Board. This event takes place in Albany, New York.
CKI Large Scale Service Project (LSSP): Like DLSSP, CKI Large Scale Service
Project focuses on the tenet of service. LSSP is hosted every year right before
International Convention. It is a 3-day event where CKI members from all over
the world can get together and Make friends while doing service.
CKI International Convention (ICON): This event is like district convention
but on an international level Members gather to vote in the new Trustees and
the International Board. Similar to our own DCON, at ICON you have the
opportunity to learn facts about Circle K, as well as ideas and service projects
you can take back to your club for them to use.
