Public Service College Scholarship

Scholarship Awards presented at the Mayors Cup Award Ceremony
hosted at the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning, June 7, 2015.
The New York Junior Tennis & Learning Scholarship Committee will award $50,000 in scholarships to 10
scholar athletes who demonstrate an ethic and commitment of character to Public Service. This scholarship
program is made possible by the generosity of the Marian and Jacob K. Javits Foundation.
Eligible scholar athletes are graduating seniors who are accepted to a full-time collegiate program. Each
individual will receive a $5,000 scholarship paid directly to the Bursar’s office of the educational institution.
This is a one time award of $5,000.
Eligibility: Residents of New York City; Seniors in high school; NYJTL Participants; Admitted to a college for Fall 2015
Financial hardship as demonstrated by FAFSA submission is a consideration for selection, but not the sole criteria for selection as a
scholarship award winner. Important factors for selection include an outstanding high school academic record; passion for tennis and
a desire for public service expressed in an attached essay.

Rules and Regulations for Scholarship Recipients from New York Junior Tennis & Learning
1. You are a candidate for a degree at an educational institution. As a first year student you must attend a
college full-time following high school graduation or the entire scholarship will be forfeited. An acceptance
letter is needed. Scholarship monies will be applied over the first two semesters.
2. Amount you receive from this scholarship can only be used for tuition and fees required for enrollment or
attendance at the educational institution or for books, supplies and equipment for courses of instruction.
3. Once a college or university is chosen, the scholar must indicate that this is the institution of higher learning
that he/she will be attending. Javits Scholarship monies will be paid directly to the institution.
