HISTORY OF TEMPE DIABLO STADIUM
Tempe Diablo Stadium (1968) is now the
oldest ballpark in the Cactus League a$er
Oakland moved out of Phoenix Municipal
Stadium (1964) following the 2014 season.
The ballpark originally hosted the expansion

Diablo through 1972 before moving to Sun
City. The ballpark sat empty for four years
before another expansion team, the Sea"le
Mariners, arrived in 1977. The Mariners le$
a$er the 1992 season for a new ballpark in
Peoria. The Angels moved their spring camp
from Palm Springs to Tempe in 1993. Diablo
Stadium underwent renova#ons in 1992
and 2006.
