Youth Ending Slavery is a Portland-based non-profit led completely by youth.
Our mission is to combat human trafficking by educating youth and out
subsequent communities—thus empowering youth to be advocates for change.
Our non-profit is spearheaded by a group of five extremely passionate board
members, the organization truly flourishes by implementing chapters in high
schools across the region. We will present how YES chapters can be established
and maintained while also discussing the importance of a youth voice in the
fight against human trafficking.

PeaceJam is an international, year-long, ongoing educational program for youth
ages 5-25. The participating Nobel Peace Laureates are directly involved in
developing the PeaceJam curriculum and the program itself. PeaceJam is the
only organization in the world which has so many Nobel Peace Laureates
working together long-term for a common cause – the leadership development
of our youth.

offered by the Red Cross: Leaders Save Lives, High School Leadership Program

Sparrow Clubs are proof that you’re never too young to make a difference. As
the nation’s only youth-based charity of its kind, Sparrow Clubs not only
provides financial and emotional support for critically ill children and their
families, but also empowers kids to help kids through charitable service to their
communities. Come learn first hand how FGHS has helped our Sparrow and
how it has helped unify our school.

Doernbecher
Honor Flights
Presenter: Mallory Tyler, Doernbecher Foundation and Lindsay Walker,
Teacher at Edy Ridge Elementary in Sherwood
Students who have been fundraising through the Kids Making Miracles (KMM)
program at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation have been raising funds
for over 23 years and have raised more than $9 million for OHSU Doernbecher.
In the process students have learned valuable lessons about the importance of
philanthropy, helping their community and being leaders in their schools. This
workshop will include Doernbecher mission moment, tips for successful fundraising campaigns, a professional toolkit, and step-by-step instructions for how
to get started.

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor
America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to
Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to
the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans
who may be terminally ill.

Do you want to change the world? Do you want to find out how you can save
Thirst Project hundreds of lives? Do you love helping people? Help Thirst Project build wells in
Swaziland 2022 developing countries. Our mission is to end the water crisis in the country of
Swaziland. Helps us make history as we do what has never been done before —
give an entire COUNTRY clean drinking water.

El better known as, Mr. Own Who You Are, is an international Speaker and
Author. During his speaker showcase he will be sharing some of the
challenges we face in our goal of having leadership beyond the limits. He will
have a few exercises that will push you to the limits in how you view
leadership, influence and the challenges needed to Own Who You Are to go
beyond those limits. During this workshop El will share about the realities we
face in leadership and more importantly why how we view and deal with our
realities is more important than the reality itself.

Excelsior Middle School leadership teacher Kim Karr co-founded a program
called #iCANHELP when inspired by a concerned student after a fake and
damaging Facebook page was created on a local teacher. Kim realized that
STUDENTS WANTED TO DO SOMETHING about all the bullying and negativity
on social media sites, they just needed the right tools to respond. The
#iCANHELP message is clear- one person has the power to make a difference
and delete negativity online and in his or her life.

Presenter: Ben Bowman, OASC Alumni and future Governor
Would you like to take your leadership skills to the next level? OASC is
looking for students interested in getting involved in the political process to
represent their peers in public policy decisions at the state level. It’s
important for the student voice to be represented in the politics and
government, since students are the ones impacted by many state-level
decisions, particularly in education. Come hear what it’s like to testify in
front of a committee in the state legislature and meet with elected leaders.
