Request for Proposals | Teaching Artist

Oregon College of Art and Craft is currently requesting proposals for teaching artists for temporary teaching positions in our youth summer art program.
OCAC is looking for accomplished artists who are committed and experienced in bringing arts education to youth. Artists interested in applying should
review information about OCAC on the website, http://www.ocac.edu/and familiarize themselves with the college's philosophy and approach to arts
education.
Qualified individuals are invited to submit proposals and apply for consideration in the following areas: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture,
illustration, metals, ceramics, photography, wood, fibers/textiles, video, book arts, and mixed media. Interdisciplinary workshops will also be considered.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Art Adventures Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum 18 years of age.
2. Completed your first year of college or the equivalent.
3. Extensive teaching experience working with youth
4. Professional artistic training, background, and work demonstrated through work samples, photos, or other documentation
4. Sincere respect for children and demonstrated work ethic and professionalism to serve as a mentor and role model.
5. Care and understanding of the arts and natural environment, and the ability to share it with others.
6. Ability to work well in a small community.
7. Posses punctuality, flexibility, energy and enthusiasm.
8. Ability to provide leadership and to communicate clearly
9. Experience and ability to work collaboratively with professional staff, fellow artists and youth.
10. Ability to organize, implement, and successfully complete projects in a learning and work environment
11. A curiosity in exploring OCACʼs methodology.
12. Ability to pass Background Check

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in collaborative planning, preparation and training before camp with the Art Adventures Director. Create innovative and exciting art curriculum
for campers that is age appropriate and addresses problem solving, creative exploration, engagement and arts learning. Complete proposals, materials
list and weekly lesson plans before program begins. Teach 12-14 campers at a time, in four workshops a day, with attention to individual and group
needs and skill levels. Teach in an outdoor “Tent Studio” with limited storage. Plan and implement a final exhibit or performance on the final day of each
week, called “Art Walk”.
HOURS:
Teaching hours are scheduled between 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, with a scheduled, unpaid lunch break daily. Days off during the workweek
are not usually possible unless absolutely necessary (i.e.; illness).
Summer Camps Camp run weekly, from June 15 – August 21, 2015. Employment is offered for full weekly session of camp in the Youth Day
Camp (grades 1-5) and the Young Adult (YA!) Camp (Grades 6-8). Employees are expected to work the entirety of each weekly session for
which they are hired. Additionally, this position requires attendance at one camp orientation on June 6, 2015, and all other staff
meetings/orientations as determined by the Camp Director.
