DEPUTY DIRECTOR AGRICULTURE SENT TO
CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE:
CHOUDWAR JAIL
AS
To day, i.e. 27.3.15 Hon’ble Special Judge, Special Court, Cuttack
convicted Sri Sharat Kumar Mohanty, Ex-Deputy Director, Agriculture, Land and
Water Management, Bhadrak
u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) P.C. Act, 1988 for
possession of disproportionate assets worth of Rs.6,51,864/- to his known
sources of income which he could not account for. The Hon’ble Court sentenced
him to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 3 years & 6 months and to pay a fine
of Rs.8,00,000/- and in default undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for further period
of 6 months. He was remanded to judicial custody and sent to Choudwar Jail.
It relates to Balasore Vigilance P.S case No.15 dt.20.7.1994 u/s
13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) P.C.Act 1988. On the allegation of accumulation of
disproportionate assets to his known sources of income his i) residential house
at Bankasahi, Bhadrak was searched on 28.6.1994 by officers of Cell, Vigilance.
The case was registered against him for accumulation of disproportionate assets.
After investigation the case was charge sheeted against him vide Charge sheet
No. 36 dt. 31.12.1997 for accumulation of disproportionate assets worth of
Rs.7,73,421/- consisting of immovable properties like one double storied building
constructed over plot no. 421 at Naripur , Bhadrak Town , one plot at Samariapur
purchased vide RSP No.1732
dt. 26.5.89 in the name of Shri Sarat Kumar
Mohanty. Confiscation order have also been passed by the Hon’ble Court of
Authorised Officer, Special Court, Cuttack in confiscation case No.2/2011 for
confiscation of his double storied building at Naripur, Bhadrak and the plot at
Samaraipur, Bhadrak on 29.9.2012. Criminal appeal case No.570/2012 have
been filed furnishing bank guarantee.
