Supervisor Responsibilities
When an Employee Reports a Work Related Injury
All employee work related injuries need to be promptly reported to Safety & Security.
If the employee has sustained life threatening or serious injuries call 911 immediately.
 Life threating or serious includes but is not limited to:
o Heart attacks & severe chest pain
o Strokes
o Bleeding profusely
o Head injuries
o Broken bones protruding through the skin
o Unresponsiveness or Loss of Consciousness
o Heat stroke
o Drowning
 Call Safety and Security as soon as possible after notifying 911.
For routine, non-life threatening emergencies:
 Complete the Employee Injury and Illness Report on the OKCPS Website
 During normal business hours contact Safety & Security for direction on where to obtain
medical treatment.
 After hours utilize the “After Hours Medical Authorization” and an authorized medical
provider. A list of predetermined providers can be found on the Safety and Security page.
 Obtain any witness statements and any other information relevant to the incident
 At any time if you have questions do not hesitate to call safety and Security for
assistance.
 Injured employees cannot return to work without a medical release, a copy of the release
must be forwarded to Safety & Security.
 If the employee suffers lost time because of the injury or illness and wants to use
injury/sick/personal leave to supplement their Worker’s Compensation Benefits, they
must contact Human Resources directly.
