Dear Parents,
The end of the school year is quickly approaching and preparations for eighth
grade events are underway. Please refer to the last page of this newsletter
for detailed information and dates.
Three Oaks Middle School celebrated the third quarter honor roll Friday, April
17, 2015. There were 434 students receiving recognition for their hard work
and accomplishments. Than you to our business partners for their generous
donations and our wonderful volunteers that helped make this event a huge
success.
Intramural golf is underway. The first meet for our school golf team will be
May 7, 2015 at Stoneybrook Golf Club. The Regional Meet follows on May 13,
2015 at Renaissance Golf Club. The golf finals will be May 21, 2015 at Ft.
Myers Country Club. Times are yet to be determined.

Spelling Bee
The 18th annual Lee County Spelling Bee was held at Three Oaks Middle School on March 19,
2015. The event is sponsored each year by The Naples Daily News and NBC-2.
Jay Schlichter, editor at Collier Citizen, served as the pronouncer.
Connie Harris is the coordinator for the bee.
The winner of the spelling bee was Jeffery Thompson. Jeffery is a student at Ft.
Myers Middle Academy. Jeffery received an expense-paid trip to attend the National
Spelling Bee in Washington, D. C. in May.

Dear Parents:
This letter is to inform you of an administrative change at Three Oaks Middle School. Last week,
Mr. Nathan Pugh found it necessary to resign from his assistant principal position for personal
reasons. He wanted to extend his well wishes to all of the students and their families.
During the next few months, the school will be hiring a new assistant principal. In the meantime,
Three Oaks Middle School’s U.S. History teacher, Richard Barta, has been assigned as TeacherOn-Assignment in the administration office. Along with his teaching credentials, Mr. Barta, also
holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and has previously served as an administrative
intern at Three Oaks. He is looking forward to working with the students, parents, and staff in this
new administrative role.
Mr. Travis McKellar, a current history teacher at Three Oaks Middle will teach Mr. Barta’s
classes. Mr. McKellar’s classes will be taught by Mr. Mark Casper, a certified social science
instructor. I am anticipating a very smooth transition during this period and as always, please
contact me with any concerns regarding these staffing changes at 267-5757.

Sixth graders entering seventh grade for the 2015-2016 school year are required to have a TDAP booster.
The State of Florida requires the TDAP instead of TD. Make sure your child receives the correct immunization.
Immunization records must be in compliance with Florida law in order for students to receive their schedule
to enter seventh grade. You can avoid waiting in line at Open House by dropping off your child’s records over
the summer.
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am until 4pm
