Having Trouble Donating to the Bakery
Kickstarter Campaign? Help is Here.
A number of the Rise Up Bakery supporters are having trouble donating to the Rise Up Bakery
Kickstarter Campaign. There are step-by-step instructions beginning on page 2 to deal with
one of the hurdles.
The main issue that would-be donors seem to be encountering is an inability to get Kickstarter to
recognize your open wallet and let you give.
The Problem—Source of
Frustration:
Here’s what usually happens to the thwarted donors.
Using a direct link or going directly to kickstarter.com
and searching for “Rise Up Bakery”, they arrive at this
page:
People are naturally attracted by the green button
“Back This Project“, which is why they are there.
They click on the button and it takes them to this
donation page:
They fill in the form with their pledge amount
and choice of wonderful premium and then click
the green button “Continue to next step” where
they are confronted with this “Sign Up” dialogue
box:
Naturally, they try to sign up. They fill in their
name, email address, and a password and then
click the green button “Sign me up“. They get a
1
cryptic error message with a dialogue box which they take to mean that there was something
wrong with their password so they try again and again—until the air is blue and they give up. It’s
not their fault. [Editorial comment from the amateur volunteer webmaster: It is hard to believe
that a website that depends on making it easy for people to give money has not read “Don’t
Make Me Think” instead of setting it up to thwart their donors.]
The Solution—Try Again, Following These Steps:
Before doing anything, ask yourself whether you or anyone using the email address you tied to
sign up with have ever given to any Kickstarter campaign in the past. If the answer is “yes”, go
directly to step 1. If you are not sure, try it out anyway.
If you have been through these steps and are still unable to donate, go to step11.
1. Go to the Rise Up
Bakery Kickstarter
main page.
2. On the upper right
side of the screen you
will see two links:
“Sign up” and “Log
in” (in red oval).
3. Click on “Log in”
and a login dialogue
box will pop up. If
you remember your
password, login with
your email and
password. Then you
will be able to
proceed by clicking the green button “Back This Project“. Otherwise go to step 4 .
4. It is likely that if you are reading these instructions, you will not remember your
password from past Kickstarter donations. Don’t even bother to fill in the form, just click
on the “Forgot?” link in the password form field.
5. Another dialogue box will pop up asking you to fill in the email address you used when
you originally signed up with Kickstarter years ago.
6. If you get the message: “Sorry, we don’t know that email address. Try again?” That
email has not been used on Kickstarter and you should try again to use it to “Sign Up“. If
your sign up is not successful, go to step 11.
7. If you get a message saying that Kickstarter has sent you an email, go to your email
account and look for the Kickstarter message, which will give you a link to reset your
Kickstarter password. Click on the link in the email. A dialogue box will popup with
instructions on how to reset your password.

8. When you have reset your password, you will be taken to your Kickstarter profile. You
do not have to fill in the password form field again unless you want to change it.
9. Now you can just look at the top of that Kickstarter webpage. Next to the little search 
icon, type in “Rise Up Bakery”. Or you can just click on this link. To make sure you are
logged in, look at the top right of the Rise Up Bakery Kickstarter page. You should see
the word “Me”. This shows you are logged in.
10. You can now click on the green button “Back This Project” and proceed to donate (as
though this whole rigmarole had never happened). Thank you for your perseverance!
11. Oh no! If these instructions did not work for you, or if you are encountering a different
problem, please contact the Barre Historical Society with a description of your problem.
Our aged tech support will get back to you and together we will troubleshoot.
