PRESENTS
DETAILS ON BONUS DOLLARS + EXTRA BONUS DOLLARS
Omaha Gives! provides a unique opportunity for gifts to go further with Bonus Dollars and Extra Bonus
Dollars. The following information has been compiled to help you understand how these incentive funds
amplify donations made through omahagives24.org.
BONUS DOLLARS
The Omaha Community Foundation has fundraised to provide $350,000 in Bonus Dollars to be shared
by all participating nonprofits receiving donations during Omaha Gives!. The portion of the funds your
organization receives is based on each organization’s overall percentage of funds raised during the event.
This is NOT a dollar-for-dollar match. If an organization receives 1% of the total funds raised on May 20,
they will receive 1% of the Bonus Dollars available.
At the completion of Omaha Gives!, OCF will determine each nonprofit’s proportionate share of
Bonus Dollars by dividing the total amount each charity raised by the total amount of donations to all
participating nonprofits. This amount will then be multiplied by the total amount of Bonus Dollars
available ($350,000).
To prevent substantial donations from skewing the allocation of Bonus Dollars, maximum donations of
$10,000 per donor, per nonprofit organization will qualify for Bonus Dollars.
FORMULA TO DETERMINE YOUR SHARE OF BONUS DOLLARS:
(numbers presented are hypothetical)
Total amount donated to individual charity ($10,000)
DIVIDED BY
Total amount donated to participating charities during Omaha Gives ($5,000,000)
MULTIPLIED BY
Total amount of bonus dollars available ($350,000)
EQUALS
Individual charity’s share of Bonus Dollars ($700)
EXTRA BONUS DOLLARS
Nonprofits can raise their own incentive funds to make donations go even further! By raising Extra Bonus
Dollars to support your organization’s efforts through Omaha Gives!, you have the ability to leverage
even more donations, do more with the gifts you’re already getting, and promote partnerships with area
organizations.
Extra bonus dollars are one tool of many to help you promote your organization. These funds are not
necessary to be successful in Omaha Gives!
All Extra Bonus Dollars must be verified by the Omaha Community Foundation before they can be
represented on your organization’s Omaha Gives! profile. In order to verify these funds, you will be
required to submit a form containing the amount of the funds and how they will be used during Omaha
Gives!, which must be signed by your organization’s board chair, as well as the funder, where applicable.
Extra Bonus Dollars must be uploaded to your organization’s dashboard by May 15!
Extra Bonus Dollars will not flow through the Omaha Gives! platform. That means that there will
be no third-party fees on those funds. That also means that they will not be eligible for OCF’s bonus
funds or prizes. The availability of these funds will be promoted in a special feature on your organization’s
Omaha Gives! profile and designated with an icon on the nonprofit search page, but the funds will not
be represented in the total raised by your organization as shown on the Leaderboard. The agreement
and transfer of these funds must be coordinated by the participating organization and potential funder.
The Omaha Community Foundation requires documentation of this agreement in order to uphold the
integrity of the information displayed through omahagives24.org.
TIPS FOR RAISING EXTRA BONUS DOLLARS:
• Recruit your board members to provide a pool of funds as part of their commitment to your
organization.
• Reach out to your star donors, you know the ones.
• Establish or strengthen a corporate partnership.
EXAMPLE EXTRA BONUS DOLLAR SCENARIOS:
• Your organization is aiming to raise $5,000 through Omaha Gives!. To incentivize the giving, your
Board of Directors has decided to pool their annual financial committments to the organization,
which totals $5,000. Your organization can now promote a dollar for dollar match on all donations,
until you reach a total of $5,000 raised. This encourages donors to help you reach your goal with
the understanding that their donation will be doubled.
• Your organization has a goal of attracting the most donors to support your organization with a
gift of $10 or more on May 20th. An area for-profit organization has agreed to grant you $10 for
every person that makes a gift to your organization on May 20th. Under this agreement, if your
organization receives donations from 100 individuals during Omaha Gives!, your organization
would, in turn, get $1,000 from the company that partnered with your organization.
