ONGERUP MUSEUM ANNUAL PICNIC DAY; 3rd MAY The Annual Picnic Day is to be held out
on the OCD’s “Matty’s Lake Block”, starting at 10am with a Billy Tea & Damper Morning tea. The
OCD will take the opportunity to Celebrate 2 events; the final sale of the sheep flock and the final
payment on the two Rental houses in Town. These two projects have been a great asset to our
district. Everyone is invited to join us and stay on for a BBQ lunch (meat will be supplied) to celebrate these events. Please bring along a salad and your own chairs or picnic blanket. Last year
the children had such a great time out in the bush, exploring and making cubbies, so this is a
place to just relax and have a pre-seeding chat for the grown-ups - although some of you may
hope it will be too wet by then, we hope others can make the time to join us. If anyone needs a
bus ride out there – this can be arranged. Please check with us closer to the date because of the
weather conditions venue may change. For anyone new in town – this is a great day to just meet
a few of the locals, there’s no time limit or commitment, it can be just for the morning or stay on
and have lunch with us, so please join us, Check with Vicki O’Neill 0428 282282 or
[email protected] for more details.
WIFE ONGERUP We will be meeting next Monday 4 May at Ongerup Sporting Complex 9.30am
cuppa 10am meeting , Morning Tea supplied BYO lunch. Discussions on recent Financial
Seminar, seeding tips for home and paddock, Dropbox and how to use it for WIFE and how you
have used it to be discussed.
ONGERUP BOWLING CLUB NOMINATIONS 2015/2016: Financial members - it is now time to
start thinking about the positions for next season. It will be very helpful if nominations are made
prior to the AGM which will be held on Tuesday 9th June. A board is located in the Store for this
purpose. Many thanks, Jenny.
Ongerup Red Cross
A Branch of Red Cross was first formed in Ongerup in 1939
and was closed in 1950. The Branch re-formed in 1960 and is
still active in 2015!
To celebrate this milestone and to
launch this year’s Red Cross Calling we held a get together at
the Hotel on Thursday 19 March. Those who attended, 24 in
total, were treated to a delicious two course meal and enjoyed catching up with each other.
Presentations were made to our six members for effective
and faithful service to Australian Red Cross –
Judy O’Neill 40 years
Jenny Ireland 40 years
Sue Oborne 30 years
Jan Savage 20 years
Margaret Jones 10 years
Denise Deering 10 years
To mark the significance of the
Centenary of Australian Red Cross
in 2014, Ms Melanie Oppenheimer,
a well-regarded author, was
approached to write the history of
Australian Red Cross to serve as a
lasting reminder of their past 100
years. Our members had great
pleasure in presenting Gail with a
copy for the local Library, thereby spreading the word of Red Cross. We hope you will take
the opportunity to borrow this lovely book when next in the Library.
Our Money Board, Raffle and Doralaine Pastries drive were well supported and raised
$486.85. Our contribution will help in ensuring the vital work of Red Cross continues both
here in Australia and further afield.
We sincerely thank Dee & John for their generous hospitality and everyone who supported
our fundraising efforts. (Red Cross members)

News from the Fairways of the Ongerup Golf Club 26-4-2015
Perfect conditions greeted the golfers last Sunday for Opening day of the
new season. With the course and clubhouse spick and span and beautiful
weather it was a wonderful day out.
The fairways are quite green and the new improved Tee boxes look very
smart. Thanks to all involved for this improvement. A sausage sizzle was
available before play and enjoyed by all.
A good crowd enjoyed the Ambrose completion with some excellent scores recorded.
The narrow winners of the day were Vikki, Wayne, Gerald and Tom with a Nett 59.2 closley
followed by Russell, Jan and Matt. Jan won two nearest the Pins and the Ladies long drive.
Men’s long drive winner was Matt. A pleasant social evening followed play with a great
meal. It was good to see some old friends back in the clubhouse.
Subs are now due for members. $75 and can be direct debited if desired.
BSB - 306030. Account No – 4180475.
Next Sunday the 3rd of May will be a Stableford completion. Names in by 12 Noon and for
those wishing to play 9 holes be at the clubhouse by 3pm and we will fit you into the field.
Good Golfing.
