No. 1 Letter 20 April 2015

CROSIER GENERAL CHAPTER 2015
SENTINELS OF THE DAWN FASHIONING EVANGELICAL COMMUNITY
CAPITULAR LETTER
20 April 2015
Capitulars and other Participants,
More information for you about the 2015 General Chapter:
•
Credit Cards. Of course, many of you may be bringing along credit cards for your travel
to and from the General Chapter. It might be a good idea to alert your credit card issuing
bank about your travel to a location where you normally do not travel. Sometimes, new
locations will trigger a block on your credit card when a charge is made.
•
Computers iPads, and WiFi. We advise capitulars to bring along a laptop computer or
tablets (e.g. iPads) if they have one. These will be essential for accessing documents in a
timely fashion (without waiting for printed copies). Th There will only be two computers
available for “public” use near the chapter room and so it may be difficult to use this
computer if many need access. The chapter room, the chapter secretariat and other meeting rooms will be located in the Pratista Retreat House building. This building will have
WiFi access to the Internet and there will be at least one printer connected to this WiFi
network to allow for printing. We do suggest that capitulars also bring along a pen drive
(i.e. flash memory stick or drive) so that they can easily transfer documents or use another computer to print their documents if they cannot access the network computers.
Strongly suggest: all computers should have active and up-to-date anti-virus software.
Inevitably, some confreres will have viruses and other malware on their computers and
this will easily spread on the network. Active protection against computer viruses is advisable.
•
Electrical Current. Indonesia (and Pratista) uses the same current as Europe and many
other parts of the world, that is 220-240v. Of course, this is different than the 120v current used in other parts (e.g. USA). If your appliance adjusts to various electrical currents
(many of us will have a computer, and maybe mobile phone, and most of these accept
varied currents 120-240v) then all you need is a plug adaptor. We found this website
which has a guide to electrical systems and plugs worldwide: www.adaptelec.com
•
Mobile Phones. Mobile phone service is available at Pratista. You can purchase for low
cost an Indonesian phone card with an Indonesian telephone number but you should
check with your local mobile phone provider if your phone will accept these phone cards.
Some providers have international calling but often the roaming rates are very high - you
are forewarned. When you arrive the site coordinator can be of assistance in obtaining a
phone card.
•
Emergency Contact Information: The telephone number for Pratista is:
• Pratista: +62 22 2700121
SMS or text messages can be sent to the Indonesian telephone number of:
• Dany Sanusi, O.S.C.: +62 812 823 222 22 or Rosaryanto : +62 813 210 111 13

Travel. All participants please provide us with your travel arrangement and other things
indicated at the Arrangement Letter that is sent together with this Reminder Letter. Please
fill and send it to our Site Coordinator, Cfr. Dany Sanusi, O.S.C. His email address is:
[email protected] He will arrange somebody to pick you at your airport destination.
•
Special Needs for Health. If you have special needs concerning your health, please
communicate it to Cfr. Dany Sanusi O.S.C. You should bring along your allergy and prescription medicines since it might be difficult to find what you need in Indonesia.
•
Money Exchange. You will probably need a small amount of Indonesian currency in the
course of your time at the chapter. We advise that you exchange some of your Euro or
Dollars at the airport upon arrival. The chapter secretariat will also offer some money exchange.
•
Bibles, Rule and Constitutions: Bring along a copy of the Scriptures, the Rule of Augustine and the Constitutions in your own language. For example, the readings at the liturgy will be read in different languages and having a bible along will assist your in hearing the Word if the language is not familiar to you.
•
Clothes. Besides causal and light clothes suitable to the Indonesian/Pratista climate, be
sure to bring along your religious habit and also bring along a sweater or jacket since
there is the possibility that early in the morning of some days there will be some sub-20
C (or sub 70 F) degree weather.
•
Proposals. While proposals can be submitted to the chapter at any time, it is advisable
that all proposals be submitted to the planning committee by May 15 so that we can plan
to give proposals adequate attention. A proposal form is available on the chapter website.
•
Chapter Bulletin and Website. Please check these bulletins and read them for the
posting of new documents and other important information about the general chapter.
Visit the site at: http://oscgeneralchapter.info
Again, it is a good idea to visit the chapter website regularly to keep informed. The site and its
information change quite often.
