Demonstrations are used, but the focus is on individual participation and performance. The program, including format, materials and teaching methods, is the product of a significant co-operative venture between academic instructors and practising members of the Bench and Bar. The teaching materials are based on those developed by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and adapted to Canadian court practices and procedures. INDIVIDUAL FEEDBACK AND COACHING Throughout the week-long program, each participant receives individual attention in a small group teaching environment. Groups of eight participants work closely with two (or more) instructors. Participants receive personalized feedback and coaching from their instructors. Performances are also filmed, providing the participants with the opportunity to self-assess. These trials take place at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice at 361 University Avenue, Toronto, and are presided over by judges and experienced practitioners. The trials provide an important opportunity to reinforce the learning and skills from the workshop.
