2015 Symposium Programming Sponsorship Opportunities CONNECTING AND INSPIRING THE WOMEN OF OSU THROUGH PHILANTHROPY WOMEN FOR OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY is a diverse group of visionary women who share a passion for inspiring leadership and financial support to Oklahoma State University. Women for OSU envisions a culture of giving and service that acknowledges the significant impact women have at OSU and inspires others to positively shape the future of the university through philanthropy and engagement. Sponsored by the Oklahoma State University Foundation, Women for OSU is led by a working council of women with an established giving history to the university. These women serve throughout the year on focused teams that support and progress the strategic direction of the organization. Our primary goal is to increase the number of women donors to Oklahoma State University as well as increase their total giving. We are also focused on connecting, reconnecting and continuously engaging alumni and friends of OSU to inspire leadership through philanthropy. Women for OSU hosts a spring symposium and regional events throughout the year. The organization and our events also support the Women for OSU Endowed Scholarship, a prestigious award that recognizes academics as well as philanthropic and volunteer activities among OSU’s students. 2014 Women for OSU Scholarship Recipients Charlie Gibson Sophomore Economics Ada, Okla. At age 21, she became the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar, making her one of only four actresses to receive the honor for a film debut. At 18 months old, Matlin endured the frightening loss of her hearing, leading her to become an advocate for the hearing impaired later in life. She played an instrumental role in getting Congress to pass federal legislation requiring all televisions manufactured in the U.S. be equipped with closed captioning technology. Matlin recently penned her autobiography, I’ll Scream Later, which explores her own hearing loss, the highs and lows of Hollywood, her battles with addiction and the unexpected challenges of being an emissary for the deaf community. Matlin serves as a National Celebrity Spokesperson for the American Red Cross, and was the Chairperson for National Volunteer Week in 1995, which she was honored for by President Clinton in a White House Rose Garden Ceremony.
