Tom Wright, Scott Brady Celebrate Retirement
After 39 Years of service to the Scouting movement, Scout Executive Tom Wright will retire July 1,
2015. During his career, Tom has served three councils in upstate New York, starting as a District Executive in Lockport New York before moving to Rochester where he held the positions of Scouting for
the Handicapped Director, Field Director and Exploring Director. Tom has graciously served Otschodela Council as our Scout Executive for twenty-five years, and wants to thank all the great volunteers
he has worked with over the years. “The Otschodela Council has been a great council to work for,
especially with hard working volunteers that make a difference in the lives of the youth they serve”.
Effective May 1, 2015 Scott Brady will conclude his scouting career with the Boy Scouts of America
with more than 3 decades of service under his belt. Scott began his career as a District Executive in
the Shehawken District of Otschodela Council serving Delaware County. He became a Senior District
Executive in 1990. Scott has served Sasquatch District, Deerslayer District and Exploring division.
Scott has served at Crumhorn/Henderson Scout Reservation as a youth staff member, Area Director,
Program Director, Camp Director and currently serves as out Properties Manager. On behalf of thousands of scouts and leaders lives he has touched, we thank and congratulate him on his retirement.
Scott will be helping out this summer at Henderson, if you see him, be sure to wish him well and
congratulate him on a job well done!

TROOP 31 VICTORIOUS AT
FIRST AID MEET 3/7/15
More than 30 Troops from all 3 counties of Otschodela Council
gathered at Schenevus Central School to compete in a series of
first aid scenarios, showcasing their skills in an evening of fun and
excitement
When the competition ended, it was Troop 31 Milford’s junior and
senior patrols who had scored the highest. The rest of the winners
for the night were as follows:

All the teams who participated in this long standing event did an
excellent job, as well as the 40+ volunteers who made it possible.
In order to gain access to the gymnasium floor, each team needed
to have a judge for the event, making it a true group effort.

Every boy deserves a trained
leader, and Otschodela Council
continues to strive for 100%
trained leadership.
If you hold a position of any type
in your troop or pack, chances
are you probably need to complete a training for your role.
At the very least, make sure
your Youth Protection Training is
up to date, as you need to have
this in order to be registered on
your Unit Charter. Any registered adult who did not have
Youth Protection completed upon submission of the Charter
has been dropped.

The time has finally arrived for the new Cub Program materials to be distributed! Resources are available
for Den Leaders, as well as the new handbooks for Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos. For More information,

Pre-Camp Swim Checks Announced!
For the first time in council history, Boy Scout Troops attending Summer Camp at Henderson will be
able to take swim tests prior to arriving at camp . Saturday May 2nd, swim tests will take place at the
SUCO Swimming Pool from 10AM-2PM and at SUNY Delhi Pool from 3PM-6PM.
For more information call John Harniman at the Scout Service Center to reserve your Spot. Space is
limited to the first 100 scouts at each location.
Webelos to Scout Transition
One of the greatest challenges of scouting is to make the next level readily available for a boy once he
meets the joining requirements. Help these young men as they cross over this spring by having them fill
out a new membership application and send the new scout application to the Council Service Center as
soon as possible. It is important that every boy be given the opportunity to join a troop and participate in
the fun and adventure of Boy Scouting. Without a new Boy Scout application turned in to the Council
Service Center, a Webelos Scout who cross over cannot advance in rank, participate in district or council activities, or attend camp. In addition, they are not covered by the BSA insurance policy. Please
make the scout’s dreams become a reality by turning in their applications to the Council Service Center
