2015 Online Reporter Project P E N N S Y L V A N I A A S S O C I A T I O N What are the Pennsylvania Press Conference and Keystone Press Awards? Sponsored by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association (PNA), the Pennsylvania Society of News Editors (PSNE) and the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors (PAPME) in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Women’s Press Association (PWPA) and the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association (PAPBA), this annual two-day conference caters to issues of importance to editors and reporters. Whether it’s social networking and online innovations, writing a better story, producing video, or managing a newsroom, there is something for every editor and reporter throughout the conference. A spirit of celebration and excellence is evident throughout the weekend conference as hundreds of outstanding writers, editors and photographers are recognized through various awards programs. The prestigious Keystone Press Awards are joined by the PAPME News Excellence and News Photo Contest Awards, PAPBA Awards, PWPA Awards and the SPJ Awards. Unique, two-day internship for students enrolled in journalism or communications programs in Pennsylvania colleges and universities. ABOUT THE PROGRAM Student interns will cover the annual Pennsylvania Press Conference and Keystone Press Awards for a comprehensive online operation entitled the Online Reporter Project. Throughout the weekend conference at the Wyndham Gettysburg, Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, 2015, students will have the chance to work one-on-one with industry professionals to produce a live website, conduct interviews, report on industry issues, cover conference presentations and awards programs, and have a chance to network with editors from across the state. This is a chance to build your resume and make contacts for that first job! Some students may also make arrangements for academic credit for the internship. Students who are interested in reporting, shooting video, taking photographs, designing a website and copy editing should apply. Applications are due by Friday, January 30, 2015. Notification of acceptance will be sent to students by mid-March. Submit your completed Application Form with a 500-word essay on “Why I want to particpate in the 2015 Online Reporter Project.” Also, include a resume describing your academic and extracurricular activities, including your experience in journalism.
