For more information about PARA, please visit our website at www.para-ab.ca/ General Job Description: PARA communications go out to the PARA membership and to its stakeholders. Communications include hardcopy and electronic magazines, monthly e-newsletters and other announcements and reminders. In addition, advertising of events and maintaining the association’s website are within the purview of the department. The Communications Coordinator (CC) is responsible for coordinating PARA communications and assisting in communications policy development. The successful candidate will be selfmotivated showing initiative while also working effectively as a part of a highly integrated team. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1. The CC coordinates the development of the Spring PARAphrase, Fall PARAphrase, and monthly PARAscope newsletters. 2. The CC coordinates PARA’s on-line communication strategy and develops benchmarks to monitor the use/success of these strategies. 3. The CC researches, writes, and edits content for the various PARA publications. 4. The CC coordinates the updating of existing content on the PARA website. 5. The CC coordinates the development of promotional materials including event posters, presentations, and other communications. 6. The CC coordinates the printing and distribution of PARA publications. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Research and editing experience On-line communications experience 1|Page Results-oriented, motivated individual who possesses exemplary problem solving and project management skills Excellent organizational and task management skills Ability to prioritize and achieve results effectively in response to numerous and diverse challenges and demands in an environment of shifting priorities. Ability to identify and analyze problems and issues and resolve them or develop alternate solutions. Ability to work in a consultative manner with internal personnel and external stakeholders and ensure that each party’s needs are represented in the decision making resulting in winwin outcomes. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. Qualifications: An undergraduate degree or diploma, preferably in communications (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered) Two years or more directly related experience is preferable Salary: The Communications Coordinator position is based on a 37.5-hour workweek with salary dependent upon education and experience and successful completion of a three-month probationary period.
