About Us
Summer Parades
Park Dance Center is proud to offer quality dance instruction
to all ages and abilities. Our mission is to promote
confidence, teamwork and the exploration of dance skills in a
comfortable environment. Our focus is on our students, with
enthusiastic and caring instructors who come to class excited
to share the joy of dance with all participants!
Park Dance Center will be participating in two parades this summer!
The Saint Louis Park Parktacular Parade will be on Saturday, June 20, and
the Hopkins Raspberry Festival parade will be on Sunday, July 19.
Dancers are encouraged, but not required to perform in both parades.

Park Dance Center is conveniently located at the corner of
Louisiana Avenue and Oxford Street, between Hwy 7 and
Excelsior Blvd.
Our address is 6900 Oxford Street, Saint Louis Park, MN
55426. We have two large studios fully equipped with
suspended dance floors, mirrors and ballet barres.

Gretchen Novak, Owner & Director of
Park Dance Center, has taught dance for
over 15 years and has directed several
area programs. Gretchen has studied all
styles of dance, with an emphasis on ballet. She enjoys working with all age
groups, from toddlers to adults, and
brings proper technique to the classroom
while practicing a fun environment.
Gretchen continues to increase her
exploration of dance through trainings,
specialty programs and participation in
performance opportunities. She believes
that dance is a life-long treasure to be
enjoyed at any age!

Park Dance Center offers a variety of dance and fitness classes for adults
Register online at www.parkdancecenter under the ’Adult Classes’ tab, or fill
out a registration form and mail to the studio. Bring a mat for all fitness
classes.

Class Descriptions
Registration Information
Class sizes are limited, be sure to register early!
Ballet
The foundation for all styles of dance. Ballet focuses on technique and proper body
alignment. Build strength and increase flexibility while dancing at the barre and completing center exercises. Students are required to take a Ballet/Tap combination class
through grade 3. Soft slippers required, pink for girls, black for boys.

Register for the grade student will be entering for Fall 2015
 Students are accepted in order of registration.
 Class fee is for the entire 6 week session.
Tap
Learn to use the balls of your feet with flat footed accents to develop a strong sense of
rhythm and an understanding of how to work the entire foot. Black tap shoes required.
Jazz
A blend of classic funk, lyrical & hip-hop movements are blended and modified to give
dancers a full range of movements. Appropriate and popular music is used. Isolations,
releases and contractions, along with turns and leaps round out our Jazz curriculum.
Black jazz shoes required.
Lyrical
A blend of ballet and jazz forms in a soft, flowing style, lyrical features strength and
control through balance for an expressive style of dance. Ballet slippers or Foot
Undeez required.
Hip-Hop
A street form of dance, hip hop emphasizes lock and flow within the body. Learn
speed and agility, along with flexibility and balance for a fun free style! Tennis shoes
for indoor - use only required.
Pointe
The ballet art form done on the pointe of the foot. All Pointe participants are required
to take two ballet classes per week. Instructor approval required prior to registration.

Turns, Leaps & Jumps—Special Summer Class!
Improve yourr technique and learn fun new tricks in this specialty summer class! Work
on increasing flexibility, spotting for turns and turning leaps, and technique for turns,
leaps and jumps from basic to complex. Black jazz shoes required.

Discounts
Multiple Class Discount: First 3 classes per dancer are full price. Each additional class
is 50% off. Not transferable or sharable.
Sibling Discount: 10% discount for siblings (up to 3 classes per sibling, not in addition
to multiple class discount).
Policies
* There will be no refunds given for missed classes. Make up classes are allowed.
* Summer class fees are not refundable. If you choose to transfer to a different class,
we require a one-week advance notification , space permitting.
* A $35 fee will be charged for all returned checks.

Preschool
Ages 3 - 5
A 45 minute ballet and tap class for preschoolers. Students will learn
introductory movement activities and basic ballet and tap elements. Balance,
memorization, and following directions will be learned with a focus on fun and
creativity.
Grades 2 - 3 & 4 - 5
A 75 minute combination class with ballet, tap and jazz styles of dance.
Students will learn proper technique as well as combinations and routines,
focusing on skill development and combination memorization.

Creative Movement
Ages 2 - 3 ½
A 30 minute parent/child class for toddlers. Large motor skills are enhanced
with an emphasis on fun and play through dance. Participants learn to feel
musical rhythm and follow directions while dancing with their peers. Adult
participation is required.
Grades K - 1
A 60 minute ballet, tap and jazz combination class. Students will learn basic
technique and skills, focusing on skill development and combination
memorization.

Grades 6 - 8 & 9 - 12
Grades 6 and above may choose dance disciplines that appeal to each
individual style. Sign up for one class or try all styles! Mastery of terminology
and technique are the focus in these classes. Goals include increased
attention to body placement and awareness, memorization and strength
building. Current competition dancers are required to take a summer ballet
class, and students interested in auditioning for the 2015-2016 competitive
team are strongly encouraged to enroll in ballet over the summer.
Adults
Dance classes for adults include Ballet, Jazz and Tap. All levels are welcome
for summer classes. We also offer a variety of fitness classes for adults and
students age 16 and above.
Attire for Summer Classes
Proper dance attire is required: Leotard and tights for ballet. Jazz
pants or shorts may be worn over a leotard for tap, jazz, and hiphop. Boys may wear shorts or pants and a form-fitting shirt.
Appropriate shoes must be worn for each style of dance.
* Instructor recommendation required for Pointe, and students must take Monday Ballet class.
