Hilary! Ford,! Public! Health! Nurse,! and! myself! will! be! running! the! Health!
workshop! on! Monday! 8! June! with! all! girls! aged! 8! years! old! and! over.! ! The!
introduction!and!first!part!of!the!workshop!will!be!fairly!general,!and!the!second!
half!will!be!just!for!the!senior!girls!in!Year!7!and!8.!!We!have!made!this!change!to!
better!meet!the!need!of!the!older!girls.!

Health Curriculum
For the attention of Parents/Caregivers of Girls aged 8 - 13 years

Kia Ora Whānau,
As you are probably aware we have started teaching a health topic around positive puberty.
Earlier in the year there was a public consultation, which I’m sure many of you attended, detailing
how the programme will run and provided a forum for questions or comments about the content.
As part of the consultation process we decided to offer an opportunity for our girls, from 8 years
old to 13 years old to meet with our Health Nurse Hilary Ford and myself. Parents and caregivers
of these girls are encouraged to attend. Parents and caregivers of girls younger than 8 years are
also welcome to come along.
The focus of this hour long session is to give the girls an opportunity to discuss and learn about
periods and manage the day to day routines associated with them. Please feel free to join us on
8 June 12-1pm. I will be with Hilary supporting her teaching and part of the question and answer
time.
Each of the girls will be given a pack called a Starter Kit with relevant samples included to
support what is being taught in the lesson. If you wish to see what is included in the pack, please
call into the office and see myself or Tania.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments or if you do not wish your daughter to be
included in this part of the programme please email me or ring me.
