Everyone that owns or manages a horse

environmentally friendly equine operation
that will benefit your facility, your horse
and ensure that your facility complies with
the PA requirements for manure
management regulations.

July 22 First Session
Equine Environmental Stewardship: How Green Is Your Farm? Participants will
conclude the workshop with an understanding of managing water quality, sediment/
manure erosion and nutrient loss.to improve environmental practices and improve horse
health.

Soil Fertility Management in Pastures: Are your pasture soils acidic, or deficient
in the essential nutrients - Nitrogen, Phosphorus or Potassium? Participants will conclude
the workshop with an understanding of: taking soil samples properly, interpreting test results, importance of monitoring soil pH and liming, types of fertilizers and their benefits
to soil health and plant growth.

Pasture Management & Renovation: Are you interested in learning how to manage pastures to increase quality, reduce weeds and maintain dense vegetation? Participants
will conclude the workshop with an understanding of: Forage identification, biology and
management, benefits and potential risks associated with grazing, the importance of rotational grazing/sacrifice lots, with a hands on approach to evaluate pastures.

reserve your spot in the workshop
and make payment.

Workshop will be limited to 25
participants. First 25 paid participants
will be guaranteed a reservation
placement for the workshop.


July 29 Second Session
Toxic Plants: How to Keep Them Under Control: Are your pastures overgrown
with stubborn weeds? Are you interested in reducing weeds and toxic plants? Participants
will conclude workshop with an understanding of weed identification and biology, biological, physical, and chemical management techniques, common pasture and toxic weeds
and environmental benefits and problems associated with weeds.

Manure Management and Composting, Manure Regulations: Are you storing
manure to prevent nutrient loss? Are you interested in composting manure? Participants
will conclude workshop with an understanding of composting and using manure, construction and maintenance of a manure storage site and understanding PA Manure Regulations and steps to write your manure management plan.
Minimum of 10 participants
required to hold workshop;
participants will be notified by July
17 if workshops are cancelled.

