The BLG Logistics Tuna Classic Tournament Rules will be applied concurrent to the rules of the Ford
Broadbill Night Challenge.
The ruling of the tournament committee will be final in all matters and without recourse. Non-compliance with
tournament rules will result in disqualification.
The IGFA rules for fishing in salt water will apply.
All anglers must have a valid fishing licence.
All boats must have a valid and correct Certificate of Fitness / Compliance.
All Skippers must have a valid Skipper’s Certificate.
The Ford Broadbill Night Challenge will be fished in a pre-determined area demarcated by GPS coordination
issued to skippers on the night of registration. All boats must only fish within the pre-determined area for
safety and the planned event status to have skippers exempted from night rating on their skippers ticket.
Only fully paid up participating anglers allowed on boats, strictly no guests.
There will be no refunds of tournament entries under any circumstances.
Acceptance of the Organiser’s indemnity by signing of such is compulsory and will be applied for both the BLG
Logistics Tuna Classic and Ford Broadbill Challenge.
Entries will be accepted at the sole discretion of the tournament committee and no correspondence will be
entered into.
All fish weighed must be given to the Tournament Sponsor in aid of charity as per conditions of sponsorship
unless the sponsor waiver this requirement at the anglers request.
The night outing will be decided by the weather committee and will be at the organisers discretion.
The Ford Broadbill Night Challenge is an organised event and therefore skippers do not require being night
rated to take part in this competition. Boats have to comply with night regulations and all required lights must
be in a working order.
The skippers will be required to enable the “track” mode on their plotters and GPS’s for random scrutiny by the
appointed tournament auditors along with the competitions officer.
Fishing Tackle: Open line class, maximum 60kg/130lb using rod and reel only - no hand lines, electric reels or
illegal tackle is allowed on boats.
Each angler will be limited to fishing with 2 rods only. Any additional or spare rods may not be rigged with
traces.
Qualifying fish: Broadbill / Swordfish.
Minimum weight: 25Kg.
All boats must be fitted with a 29 Meg (PEDSAC Control channel 6/B) or VHF (PEDSAC Control channel
68) radio and must have GPS navigation.
Radio boat Call-ups will happen every hour between 17:30pm and 05:30am. Please stand by with position
and catch. Boats calling in false positions will be disqualified from the tournament for safety reasons.
The Broadbill challenge will be fished from 17:30pm to 05:30am on the chosen night during the 2015 Tuna
Classic.
Any Tuna caught during the day can be tagged and sent to shore for weigh-in with boats not fishing the night
challenge. (Conditions and rules to be discussed at skippers briefing.)
Any Tuna caught between 17:30pm and 05:30am do not qualify and may not be weighed for the Tuna Classic.
All participating boats are required to meet at a pre-determined meeting point at the start and the end of the
night challenge for inspection and scrutinizing by an appointed tournament official.
Skippers must ensure that sufficient fuel, food and water are carried to last a total of 36 hours. Arrangements
can be made with other competition boats not staying the night to bring out spare fuel, food and water should
space and capacity be a factor.
All weighing will be independently verified by appointed auditors.
The weather committee may cancel part off the nights fishing.
Disputes or complaints can be handed in writing to either Richard Donaldson, Pieter Didloff or Martin Gierz on
the day of the dispute/complaint no later than 18h30 on the first two days and 17h30 on the last day. The
dispute or complaint must be accompanied by a R200 payment. This payment will be returned to the angler
concerned if his/her complaint/dispute is successful.
Prize-winning fish of the same weight will share the prize money.
