Parent Information
Session 3-31-15
There will be a parent
information session for all
prospective Peterson parents
tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31,
2015, at 8:30am in the cafeteria
after the Parent Tea. The session
is being hosted by Peterson
Principal Kate Kane, and
information about the vision of the
school, the curriculum and
instruction, and the extracurricular
activities will be shared. While the
session is geared toward future
Peterson parents, all parents are
encouraged and welcome to attend,
and it would be great if previous or
current parents could share
information as well. There will be
tours by students after the session.!
End of 3rd Quarter
and Spring Break
The end of the 3rd quarter is
Thursday, April 2, 2015. There is no
school for students 4-3-15 to 4-10-15.
The building will be closed for
Spring Break.!

It is finally starting to feel like spring is here!!!

Please remember that the quarter ends on Thursday, April 2,
2015, and there is no school for students from April 3, 2015, to April 10,
2015. I hope all families have a relaxing and restful spring vacation.
Please stay safe, and I will see you at 8:30am on Monday, April 13, 2015!!!

I would like to share some information with Peterson
families regarding enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year for
students in K to 8. For families who live in the attendance area who
would like to enroll their K student, enrollment will begin April 20,
2015. For families who live in the attendance area who would like to
enroll their student in grades 1 to 8, enrollment will begin in August,
2015. For students who live outside of the attendance area, an
application should have been submitted through Options for
Knowledge in Fall 2014, and a decision to attend Peterson must be made
by April 14, 2015. Please contact Mrs. Marti Hindaileh in the main
office for more information. For families who would like to enroll their
PK student, the Ready to Learn application is due May 1, 2015. This is
done through CPS. Families should go to cps.edu/readytolearn or call
312-229-1690. All prospective and new families are invited to attend a
parent information session tomorrow (3-31-15) at 8:30am or after break
(4-14-15) at 9:30am.!

A couple of friendly reminders: !
•Drop Off and Pick-Up: This is a reminder that parents should not
use the parking lot on Kimball to drop off or pick up children. This is a
staff parking lot, and as staff is arriving in the morning and leaving in the
afternoon, it is not safe to use this area as a drop off or pick up location
for children. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.!

•Picture Re-Takes: Picture retake day for both 8th grade and fall
pictures will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, in the auditorium. If a
student is having their picture taken for the first time, please pick up a
picture order from from the main office before April 2, 2015. Payment
must be submitted with the order on April 2, 2015. If a student is
retaking their fall picture, the original package must be returned to the
photographer. 8th graders should wear dress clothes, and there is a
retake charge of $10.00 for 8th graders that must be presented to the
photographer on April 2, 2015, with the original proof packet.!
•Box Tops for Education: Thank you to all those who collected
box tops and labels for education. Peterson has saved $1035 so far
this year!! Thank you to Mrs. Karla Holcomb, LSC President, for
coordinating this effort to support Peterson!!

•My Voice My School Parent Survey: The My Voice, My School
Parent Survey will be available between April 1, 2015, and April
30, 2015. Please take the time to give your feedback that will aide
in school improvement. I will share more information as it
becomes available.
!
•Student Make-Up Days: To ensure that students receive the
valuable instructional time that was intended for February 2 and
19, CPS has made changes to its academic calendar for this school
year without disruption to graduation schedules or the start of
summer school. The changes are as follows: Thursday, June 18,
2015, which was scheduled to be the first day of summer break,
will now be a regular attendance day. Friday, June 19, will now
be a regular attendance day for all students. Students’ summer
break will begin on Monday, June 22.

•Report Card Pick-Up: Report Card Pick-Up will be on Thursday, April
16, 2015, at Peterson. There is NO SCHOOL for students on Report Card
Pick-Up. Students are encouraged and welcome to attend with their
parents, and students in the middle school are expected to attend with their
parents. Please look for a letter from teachers to schedule a time for Report
Card Pick-Up at Peterson.
•Childcare at Peterson: The Peterson PAC is aware that many of you seek
care for your children after school, and we would therefore like to hear your
thoughts about the possibility of providing additional after-school care.
Please note that this is in regards to after-school care that would be effective
next school year (2015-2016).
