This is a summary document and planning guide to assist students in meeting the schools noncredit requirements. Please note the “Requirement and Policy Information” may
have a link that directs the reader to more complete information – please review the full policy documentation in order to gain full understanding of the requirement. Also note
that the “X” indicates the year that the requirement is completed – please plan and budget accordingly.
These requirements apply to all Doctor of Pharmacy students, unless a waiver is obtained from the appropriate school official. The School reserves the right to add additional
requirements as deemed necessary to protect the health and safety of the students, or to further their education.

Requirement and Policy Information
BCLS/CPR Training
Students must maintain continuous certification from
the fall of their P1 year through graduation.
Certification MUST be valid until the end of the
students FINAL rotation. The BCLS/CPR must come
from the American Heart Association or the American
Heart Cross.

Class of 2019
P1 year: Complete BCLS/CPR upload the certification into EValue by December 31, 2015.
P3 year: Renew in the fall of P3 year – fall 2017.
Class of 2018
P2 year: Complete BCLS/CPR upload the certification into EValue in spring of 2016. This certification will be valid until
Spring of 2018. Requirement is met for the duration of time
in pharmacy school unless student becomes delayed.
Note: certification is valid for two years.*
Please check E-Value for information about where to
obtain BCLS/CPR training.
Deadlines
Class of 2016 and Class of 2017: Students have already
completed this requirement for the duration of their time in
pharmacy school unless they become delayed.
P1: Prior to entry into the program – completed the summer
before entry.
P2: Spring semester of P2 year.
P3: Spring semester of P3 year.
Instructions to complete CBC provided to entering P1
class with onboarding instructions and is available to
P2-P4 students on E-Value
Urine Drug Screens (UDS)
UDS as part of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy -see
http://pharmacy.umkc.edu/pharm-d/policies/ (See
Program Policies and Procedures then Alcohol and
Drug Abuse Policy)
P1-P4: If required part of Substance Abuse Policy
MU P2 Students: Students completing Columbia-based
IPPE’s will be given the logistics to complete UDS by EE in
Spring of P2 year.
Students completing Columbia-based APPE’s: Logistics to
complete UDS given by EE Directors in Spring of P3 year.
UDS in IPPE and APPE students
Students completing rotations in Columbia will
complete a UDS. Other IPPE and APPE sites may
require a UDS as a condition of participation. The UDS
is collected as per the sites policy and procedures. If a
positive finding is reported to EE, the results are
forwarded to the ADSA for further evaluation.
Health Insurance
Other IPPE and APPE students: As per instructions in the
site-specific information found on E-Value.

All students must upload proof of health insurance coverage
into E-Value by the end of the first week of class each fall
semester – even if the insurance carrier has not changed.

Starting in 2015-2016, the deadline to complete HIPPA
training and upload the certificate into E-Value is annually
by September 1.

Immunizations
Class of 2019: During your P1-P4 years – complete and
upload by September 1 of each year.
Class of 2018: During your P2-P4 years – complete and
upload by September 1 of each year.
Class of 2017: Completed in the Spring of 2015 as P2. As a
P3, repeat by September 1, 2015 to get on fall schedule. As a
P4, you will complete by September 1, 2016.

Class of 2016: Completed in the Spring of 2015 as P3.
Requirement met through graduation unless student
becomes delayed.
P1: Documentation must be uploaded into Evalue by
September 15 of P1 year, except for the flu shot which must
be uploaded by November 1
P2-P4: Students must ensure immunizations remain current
and all documentation uploaded into E-Value throughout the
rest of the time in school.

P2-P4: Renew by December 31 biannually on even
years*.
All students must maintain professional liability insurance for
interns. Renew annually and upload into E-Value by
December 31 of each year. Insurance must remain valid
through the end of the P4 year.
All students are required to have a wireless capable mobile
device that meet the specifications outlined in the Laptop
policy.
 Please note that the Google Chromebook or other
laptops/tablets running the Android operating system
do not meet the specifications.
 Windows must not be the “RT” version. This includes the
“Surface RT
P2: Completed in spring semester of P2 year. Instructions
will be provided in the spring of the P2 year.
All Columbia-based students : Complete annually by
October 31st each year
Any student completing an APPE rotation at University
Hospital and Health System: Prior to starting the rotations in
the P4 year.
Note:
Class of 2018: During your P2-P4 years – complete and
upload by October 31 of each year starting 2015 forward.
Class of 2017: Completed in the Spring of 2015 as P2. As a
P3, repeat by October 31, 2015 to get on fall cycle. As a P4,
you will complete by October 31, 2016.
