Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Group Fitness Instructor will be
responsible for leading safe, educational classes to members across facilities. The
Instructor must demonstrate knowledge of group fitness; have the ability to
explain, demonstrate and teach fitness techniques at the appropriate level of
participation; and have the ability to set up and maintain equipment.
Minimum
Qualifications:
The Group Fitness Instructor must demonstrate professionalism: arrive ten minutes
prior to class; start and end the class on time; follow the safety policy and
instructor’s hand book; record attendance; complete pay sheets promptly; report
any facility/equipment breakdowns; respect all staff and members; and attend
professional development workshops if applicable.
Education:
Training in fitness leadership, group fitness, anatomy and class organization or any
other equivalent combination of training and experience. Degree or diploma in
PHE/Kinesiology/Dance or Movement an asset.
Preference given to University of Toronto students.
Certifications: Current CPR and Standard First Aid; Group Fitness Certification (e.g.
Can-Fit-Pro, OFC, Zumba, Nia, Yoga or other specialty fitness certification).
Experience: A minimum of six months experience teaching a range of movement
styles and levels. Familiarity with KPE programs and services
