Pineland Continues to Grow: Growth is in junior division, same space is needed. 765 is
projected enrollment (compared with 734); same number of classes (6 English and 28
French Immersion) totaling 34 classes (7 English and 27 FI).
Currently in Hiring Process: all assignments tentative; class building happens in early June
(letter to community will go out on Friday); information about classes not provided until
Friday before school starts in September; Mrs Briggs is retiring and Ms. Pilgrim taking a
math instructor role outside of Pineland
Planners: Have applied to pilot the e-planner. Implementation/trainer in the fall…will be
transition process. No paper agendas being ordered. Everyone in board must switch over
in 2 years. PA day training on this in June. Students can access through any device at
home. They are not required to bring a device to school to access. Replace the teacher
websites. Interfaces with cashless schools, Trillium, GoogleDocs etc. Work on
windows/Apple. Cloud based technology. Very secure. No student to student
communication. Push notifications.
Popcorn cookie sales raised $ from student body towards the Mascot. A lot of interest to
wear the costumer. Going to do a Panther naming contest which Donna will organize.
Questions:
Update on labour situation?: Elementary teachers have filled a no board report so legal
position to take job action as of May 10 in Halton.
Parking lot expansion and playground expansion?: No capital or sympathy to enlarge
blacktop. Plans to expand parking lot.
Pool of French teachers?: Not enough qualified applicants for French at current time.
Council Operations Update
Treasurer Report (Chris for Kari) – See Attached. Hold the line on expenses until after
Pantherama.
Pizza Update (Chris for Mary Anne) – 7 left this year.
Acorn Cards (Linda) – net is $1400. Grade 3 raised the most. 2 Grade 5 teachers used class
time and marked the assignment and this made huge difference. No participation from Grade 7
& 8. More cashless purchases than ever. Consider running our own program using board for
printing next year. Linda, Denise and Melanie will look at a school run program for next year.
Pantherama (Pam) – Saturday, May 30 10-1 pm. Teaser poster will go out next week. Order
forms and flyers go home 3 weeks before. Planning Committee is very small (4 people). A

Parent Involvement (Kim)
Swimming was fun but only about 60 people so less than half than last year. Next agenda look
at swimming or another option. Clara wants to thank Mrs. Nimigan and Ms. Fortune for the art
installation in the display case for appreciation for volunteers for National Volunteer Week and
to get grade 8 students thinking about how they might want to volunteer in high school.
Volunteer database is also being used by teachers to assist with in-class activities.

Veronica not in a position to organize a Spring Clean-Up this year but we are very grateful
for her contributions to date
Girls on the Run program (not for profit organization that provides a curricculm for girls grade
3-8 to build self-esteem and support relationships for girls); being spearheaded by Mrs.
Thompson and Madamoiselle Kelsey. They enlist the sponsorship for it so otherwise would
be $140 per child. We did it as “pay what you can”. 5 Km non-competitive run to be
planned. 20 girls participating.
Will consider how we can recognize our staff in our student council newsletter
Motion to adjourn meeting from Denise. Motion seconded by Jennifer Cooke. Motion
