Schlitterbahn Trip Chaperone
Thank you for your interest in chaperoning your 8th grader’s trip to Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston!
Students are looking forward to this fun and exciting day! With your help, we will make sure that students
have an unforgettable time!
Can I chaperone the Schlitterbahn trip?
 I am V.I.P.S. approved (see back for information).
 I am 21 years of age or older.
 I am the parent or legal guardian of a Pin Oak 8th Grader.
What are the commitments and responsibilities?
 Be available from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26.
 You will need to ride the charter bus with your group from Pin Oak to Galveston (and back again).
 Set check in times for your student group and hold group members responsible for meeting you at
specific times and locations.
 Be observant and help Pin Oak staff ensure that students are following the park rules and guidelines
set by Pin Oak.
What will I need to provide?
 Pay $35 fee to cover the cost of your shirt and entry to the park (pay to Allison Sutton).
 Provide your own lunch, towel, sunscreen, etc.
Okay! I‘m ready to go! What do I do? Either fill out the online Schlitterbahn Volunteer Form located on the
Pin Oak and Pin Oak PTO websites or return this sheet to Amber Parker by Friday, May 8. You will be
contacted shortly to confirm that you are able to go with us. Filling out this form does not guarantee a spot for
you on this trip.

Steps on How to Register for VIPS:
You must be VIPS approved to participate in any of the 8th grade events. Please make
sure that you are VIPS approved. It takes HISD 2 – 3 weeks to process your VIPS
application. If you have previously certified; you must verify each year by showing your
license at the front office and going through the verification process. This is not a
recertification.
Go to the HISD homepage: www.houstonisd.org
At the top of the homepage click on Students & Parents then click on Get involved,
click on Volunteer in Public Schools.
Step 1: Click on www.houstonisd.org/vipslogin
Step 2: Fill out the form and submit.
Step 3: After you have successfully registered, you must present your license to Pin
Oak’s VIPS Coordinator, Claudia DeLeon Martinez
