Poona Hospital & Research Centre was established in 1985 under the aegis of the Rajasthani and
Gujarati Charitable Foundation, a registered public charitable trust, with the aim of providing
quality medical care at a reasonable cost to the public, and also to give free or concessional
medical care to patients from the lower socio-economic strata.
The foundation stone of the hospital was laid in September
1982 by Late Shri Dongreji Maharaj. His auspicious presence
and blessings were the motivation for this undertaking of
service to society. The hospital, which was established entirely
through donations from local citizens, presently has 250 beds.
Approximately 40% of them are general ward beds, mainly
occupied by patients receiving medical care at a concession
or free of charge. Expansion plans include increasing the bed
strength to 300.
Free health camps, outreach programmes and medical
education also form an integral part of the hospital
functioning.
In gratitude to the religious gurus who inspired this endeavour
into the field of medical service, it gives us great satisfaction to
provide medical care to all Guru Maharajs free of monetary
consideration, in a separate wing specially set aside for them.
Emergency & Trauma Unit
The Emergency and Trauma Unit, one of the best in the city, is geared to deal with all kinds of
emergencies from head injuries to heart attacks. Treatment is initiated immediately by well qualified
doctors and nursing staff at the point of entry into the hospital.

with trained staff for all EMERGENCY and TRAUMA
services, available round the clock, just a phone call
away.

Critical Care
The Critical Care Units ( Cardiac, Neuro,
Medical ) are equipped with the best in
monitoring, ventilatory and resuscitative
equipment. Managed by teams of
intensivists, specially trained nurses and
respiratory therapists among others, a
consistent standard of excellence in
patient care is ensured.
Haemodialysis & Renal Transplants
In the busy haemodialysis unit, thousands
of procedures are conducted every year.
Trained staff also carries out haemodialysis in situ in the intensive care units.
The hospital is a recognised centre for
cadaver donor organ transplants.
