Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, President of FGV SÃO PAULO SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (EAESP) EAESP was established in 1954 in the city of São Paulo in response to challenges resulting from Brazil’s rapid growth. The school is now one of the top administration schools in Brazil, bolstering the country’s entrepreneurial capacity. BRAZILIAN SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND FINANCE (EPGE) EPGE was established in 1961 to boost research activities, produce scientific publications and train academics in economic science with a view to generating international competitiveness and national leadership. The school’s lecturers are a group of doctoral graduates devoted solely to research and teaching. SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (CPDOC) CPDOC is a major teaching and research center in social sciences and contemporary history. Established in 1973, it has become a leading historical research institute in Brazil and holds a major collection of personal archives, oral histories and audiovisual sources that document aspects of contemporary Brazilian history. SCHOOL OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS (EMAp) EMAp was established in 2009 with the aim of fostering acquisition and transferring scientific and technological knowledge, mathematically oriented, to many social sciences fields, such as Sociology, History, Economics, Management, Law, Library and Archival Sciences. Its scope of research encompasses the epistemology, methodologies and techniques that originate from mathematical and computer sciences. INSTITUTE FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (IDE) IDE manages the distribution of ongoing learning programs produced by the various FGV schools. IDE is responsible for FGV Management, a classroom executive learning program; the distance learning program, FGV Online; FGV Corporate, a program of customized courses; and the Quality Certification Program, which shares FGV knowledge with other graduate teaching institutions. IBRE is a leading institution in calculating the Brazilian GDP and in producing price indices, including the General Price Index (IGP) which was the official inflation index for many years. Additionally, through maintaining contact with more than 20,000 companies throughout Brazil, IBRE prepares price indexes, trend and business cycle indicators widely used by scholars, analysts, managers and public administrators. FGV PROJECTS FGV Projetos specializes in bridging the gaps between formal knowledge and real-life problems and decisions its clients face. Leveraging on the expertise of the various FGV schools, FGV Projetos generates solutions by developing and implementing custom frameworks that are tailor-made to the issues at hand. PUBLIC POLICY ANALYSIS DIVISION (DAPP) DAPP focuses on translating the application of concepts and methodologies in social sciences using state-of-the-art technologies, analysis and transparency of information, and assessing and monitoring public policies and structural programs related to national development. FGV ENERGY FGV Energy is a study center created in 2013 to produce, promote and disseminate research and know-how in the field of energy, with emphasis on seven major areas: oil, natural gas, electric power, nuclear energy, biofuels, renewable sources, and energy efficiency. FGV PRESS Since 1945, FGV Press has published work from various fields of knowledge in the social sciences, contributing to improved learning and education in Brazil and giving FGV a national and global presence.
