Holiday Programmes
Do you have a sport or hobby you would like to share?
The Multi-Sports Activity Programme
which ran during the Easter Holidays
was the biggest sports camp to date.
55 children attended the programme
each day, taking part in a variety of
different sports, activities, and fun
games.
The next programme will be held during
the summer holidays, so please ensure
you book fast to avoid disappointment!!
Dates TBC.
Active Schools are always looking for volunteers to help get
more children in Scotland more active, more often.
You do not have to have any previous coaching or sporting
experience to get involved in the work of Active Schools. If
you can spare 30 minutes or an hour each week over a few
weeks your help would be greatly appreciated (this could
be before school, during lunchtimes or after school).
If this is something you would be interested in, or you
would like more information on, please contact me using
the details below.
Hockey Taster Sessions
Badminton Sportshall Challenge
During the first half of Term 4 pupils in
Primaries 4 and 5 will get the opportunity to
participate in hockey sessions during school
time. The sessions will be delivered by a coach
from Aberdeenshire South Hockey Club. It is
hoped that there will be a Cluster Festival to
conclude the sessions within the Portlethen
area. Date and location TBC.
You might remember during term 3 pupils in
Primary 3 and 4 were given the opportunity to
try out some fun badminton challenges. A team
of 10 pupils were selected from each primary
school in the Portlethen network who came
together for a Cluster Festival.
After many challenges and scores being
extremely close, Fishermoss and Newtonhill
Primary qualified to attend the Regional
Badminton Event at Banchory Sports Centre on
8th May.
If your child enjoys the taster sessions held in
school then there is the opportunity for him/her
to come along to the after school club based at
Portlethen Academy. The club takes place
every Tuesday of term time from 4pm-5pm. If
you are interested in signing your child up for
the Hockey Club, then please contact me using
the details below.
For this being the first time involved in the
competition both teams done very well, and
represented their schools, and the network, in a
fantastic manner. Out of 8 schools, Newtonhill
came 6th and Fishermoss came 4th!!
Eventhough we didn’t come out on top the
pupils had a fun day, and they all enjoyed the
experience. Here’s to next year’s event!
