Counselor In Training (C.I.T.) Application
Goal: Youth volunteers will be provided with the opportunity to participate in a career/volunteer development
program consisting of leadership and service activities. They will also be given essential guidance and a
support system that is designed to help youth examine the values inherent in human service, either as a
career or a volunteer pursuit.
Job Responsibilities:















Provide a quality summer camp program that continually reinforces the mission of BGCKC.
Comply with the rules and regulations of the Boys & Girls Club of King County.
Help coordinate daily & weekly activities for youths.
Gain an overall knowledge of summer camp operations.
Attend orientation and trainings.
Arrive to work at scheduled time and communicate with supervisor when tardy or absent.
Proper dressing attire at all times (follow BGC dress code, wear camp T-shirt and name badge).
Treat each child with dignity and respect.
Provide general care and supervision of children and maintain safe and fun environment.
Enforce safety regulations.
Interact cooperatively with peers, staff and director.
Provide support to youth, staff and families at all times.
Daily time entry in C.I.T. log.
Display a positive “can do” attitude and genuine enthusiasm.
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned or as needed.

Orientation and Training (Mandatory):
Interviews – These will be set up after applications have been turned in.
Training – CIT’s will need to attend an All County Training on Saturday, June 6.
Club Orientation – Friday, June 19 at the Ballard Club.

The minimum commitment is four weeks. CIT shifts are M-F 9:00-3:30pm. There will also be “pm only”
CIT’s that will assist in activities at the club from 3:30-6:30.
