Powhatan Auction Gala
2
March 2015
Dear Parents and Friends,
Please come enjoy a special evening of fun and celebration at
Powhatan’s ‘Big Hair with a Neon Flair’ on Saturday, April 18th. We
are very excited to offer a new and local venue at The Museum of the
Shenandoah Valley. The setting will be more relaxed with some surprises thrown in such as a beauty bar to get that BIG HAIR we all
remember from the 80’s! The food, fun and opportunity to enjoy old
and new friends will make it an evening you won’t want to miss!
This year’s Gala will feature a silent auction comprised of items for
every taste, interest and price. The live auction will offer a variety of
valued items that promises to be more exciting and spark more interest.
With much enthusiasm, once again, the auction will include a Fund
a Need to raise money for a beautiful, new playground. A ‘Fund a
Need’ is a special time during the live auction which raises funds for
a critical need at the School.
Parent volunteers have worked tirelessly to gather a wide range of
auction items. Among the many fantastic items are a Club Level Box
Suite for any Redskins Game; a trip to Canaan Valley; amazing dinner parties; an at home dinner party with your own personal chef,
Chef Justin Garrison, of the Wine Kitchen and WK Hearth, two of
Northern Virginia’s top restaurants and so much more.
So bring a few of your friends and join us in celebrating another
fantastic school year. Remember, all the money raised this evening
goes directly back to Powhatan and ultimately your children. I look
forward to seeing you at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley!
Sincerely,
Susan Scarborough

A Private Painting Lesson with Renowned Artist, John Barber
An once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an aspiring artist to work with a critically acclaimed artist in a one-on-one setting. Because he has painted commissioned works of art for President Ronald Reagan, Newscaster Walter Cronkite,
and local philanthropist Bunny Mellon; and because of the stature gained
through commission by the American Battle Monuments Commission in
painting the official painting of the National World War II Memorial, as well as
the official painting commemorating the Bicentennial of the White House; and
because his artwork is distinct and recognizable throughout the United States
and the World, this auction item is valued as priceless. Date, Time and Location for the session will be agreed upon between the artist and the recipient.
Since Mr. Barber resides in Richmond, Virginia, the session should occur
somewhere in between, possibly somewhere on the Chesapeake Bay.
