is currently being done digitally, the mere capture of an image
using a digital camera does not constitute electronic imaging.
Conventional photography (such as portraiture) performed

into one of the photographic open categories. Prints of
electronic images are required. There will be no monitor
judging.
22 –The judging procedures for 2015 will coincide as closely as
possible with the standards of the official PPA-PEC judging
guidelines. Images scoring 80 and above will comprise the
Court of Honor. Images scoring 80-81 and 78-79 will go
through the review process with all 80-81 scores first being
reviewed to be lowered to 79, then all 78-79 scores (including
those lowered in the 1st round) reviewed to be raised to 80.
Best of category will be determined by the judges in the side by
side comparison and may not necessarily be awarded to the
highest numerical scoring image in the category. All images
scoring 78 and above will be included in the exhibition. For an
image to be considered for an award for distinguished award
certificate, the image must score a minimum 78. Images scoring
below 76 will not be exhibited, but will be made available for
the judge’s critique for the maker.
23 – Judges Critique will be offered to anyone wishing to
schedule a 15 minute one on one going over your images during
Spring Seminar. You must sign up on line for this, to allow for
scheduling.
PPLA Print and Digital Competitions are by the Honor
System. By marking a category, you as a member are giving
your word that these things are true.
There is not a President’s Award given at
Spring, but keep this theme in mind while
you are preparing your images to enter the
state print competition. The main purpose
for this Spring Digital Competition is to
prepare you for the Big One! This is the
competition where we all help each other,
sharing constructive suggestions and
critique. Take advantage of this opportunity
to learn and share in a friendly, safe
arena. We want you to score BIG!

SPX PPLA State Print Competition Alert!
The President’s Theme for the year is
“Heroes Among Us”. It is also the theme for
the President’s Choice Award at SPX.
Karla Byron, PPLA President wanted each of
you to have an opportunity to give praise or
to honor someone you have over looked or
forgotten. Take the opportunity to thank that
mentor, teacher, loved one, forgive and
forget, let them know what they mean to you,
none of us are promised tomorrow. We all
live in a fast paced world sometimes
realizing when it is too late, what someone
meant to us or the way they moved us
changing our lives forever.
The President’s Award has historically
been one of the most coveted awards given
by the PPLA Print Competition. This award
is the image that best represents the theme
decided upon by the current PPLA
President. To be chosen by the panel of
Judges, (not by the President.)
