Felicitation Programme to Swapna Baruah

The CCC of the MDKG College has organised a felicitation programme on 30 th March, 2015 to welcome
Swapna Baruah, a student of sixth semester of our college who won Gold Medal in kick boxing in the 1st
World Martial Arts Games held at Bangkok, Thailand on 12-22 March, 2015. In her journey the college had
sanctioned 25,000/- and the coordinator had collected another 20,000/- from the faculty members of the college
and gave her a total of 45,000/- for ensuring her participation in the said event. On arrival to the college on 30th
March 2015, Swapna Baruah was given a red carpet welcome by the NSS wing of the college with claps and
flowers. The students were standing in a human chain to welcome the gold medallist. Tausifa Ahmed Hussain,
Group Leader of the group 4 and Anamika Deb, member of group 9 of the NSS wing arranged, prepared and
welcomed this sports talent to the college. With the helps extended by other NSS volunteers and students of the
college, they not only prepare the human chain but also welcome the gold winner sports talent, Swapna Baruah
as like a war winner hero. They welcome Swapna with continuous claps and throwing flowers from gate to
room no 1. Honourable DC, M.S. Manivandan was the chief guest of the programme. Firstly the coordinator of
the CCC greeted all the attendees and called principal, DC and Swapna Baruah to the stage where all of them
were welcomed with a gamucha by the students. After that a power point presentation prepared for the
programme by the coordinator was shown to all where the glorious journey of Swapna was recorded and
played. Thereafter Swapna was felicitated with a gamucha & flower buke by the Deputy Commissioner of
Dibrugarh District on behalf of the institute. Then a special memento prepared on this occasion was read by
Prof. Shrutimala Bharali, member of the CCC and Dr. D.K. Bhuyan presented the same to Swapna as a token of
appreciation from the institute. Following cells/organisations etc have also felicitated Swapna Baruah.
Career Counselling Cell of MDKG College felicitated her with a gamucha by Prof. Ashwini Machey.

PGSU, Dibrugarh University felicitated her with a gamucha & flower buke by Nipom Koch on behalf of
the union.
AASU, Dibrugarh also felicitated her with a gamucha, Japi & flower buke by president & secretary.
Dibyajyoti Sangh, Kumarani chinga also felicitated her with a gamucha by president.
After the receiving the felicitation, Swapna Baruah gave her speech where she thanked the college authority
and teachers for supporting her and she cried when she was standing in the lecture stand. DC in his speech said
Swapna as ‘Marry Com of Assam’ and he announced that he will send the name of Swapna to the state
government to felicitate her in the coming 15th August at Guwahati. If it will not be accepted, he promised that
Swapna Baruah will be felicitated in the district field on 15th August. The august house was surrounded by the
students and faculty members and the media gave a wide coverage of the programme. Even the Times Now
(now known as Pratidin Time) broadcast it as a LIVE PROGRAMME. The programme was ended up by
offering vote of thanks by the principal himself. At the last, national anthem was sung by all the attendees. The
entire NSS team were actively involved in the felicitation programme since from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. Some
