PROJECT CHANGE STUDENT LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Rising Sixth Through Eighth Graders
Session 1- July 13 –17
Session 2- July 20 - 24
PROJECT CHANGE announces its annual Student Leadership Institute for rising sixth through eighth graders.
In this interactive, fun, evening program, participants will have the opportunity to participate in:



Project identification and planning of community service activities
Personal goal-setting and self-assessment
Leadership skills development
The Institute will be held from 5:30 to 8:30pm, at St. John’s Episcopal School, 3427 Olney Laytonsville Rd, Olney, MD
20832.
Through participation in this program, youth will:
 Be introduced to Project Change and its signature programs (You Have the Power! Community Service
Network, and Youth Empowered Service)
 Learn the value of high-quality service opportunities
 Develop competencies in program planning
 Understand the value of participating in volunteer activities, both personally and for the benefit of their
community
 Develop leadership skills necessary for successful, meaningful participation in high school and community
service activities
 Learn how to work effectively with others in project teams
 Identify potential volunteer opportunities in personal areas of interest
 Have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in Project Change activities
Students will also earn 15 service-learning (SSL) hours. The Student Leadership Institute will be led by Project Change
staff and Project Change high school mentors.
Applications are currently being accepted. Cost for the Institute is $125 for applications submitted by May 31, and
$150 for applications submitted between June 1 and June 17. Some limited, need-based scholarships are available.
Project Change will accept applications on a rolling admissions basis. All applications must be submitted by June 17.

Applications for high school instructors are also being accepted and are due by no later than Wednesday May 20.
