A Lil’ Rhody History
Most of us have heard of the
Boston Tea Party, but Rhode
Islanders are proud to claim
the first act of rebellion against
the English that sparked the American
Revolution: setting fire to the HMS Gaspee.
In 1772, King George III

Rhode Island waters by sending his Englishmen
aboard The Gaspee to enforce trade laws and
prevent smuggling—often unjustly—against the
colonists.

celebrations! Here are just a few of the great
events happening in Warwick/Pawtuxet Village!
