Prophesy Again Pastor Andrew Henriques www.prophesyagain.com Morality Declines, The End Approaches, While Professed Christians Reject Manna And Lust For Flesh 1. Let us read 1 Corinthians 10:6 and11 and discover that the journey of ancient Israel from Egypt to the earthly promised land of Canaan typifies the journey of God’s people from this sinful earth to the heavenly promised land, even the new earth. 2. What does Egypt represent? Exodus 20:2__________________________________________________________________________ 3. What held the Jews in bondage, according to Jesus, that is holding many in bondage in these last days? John 8:32-34_____________ 4. Note: The journey of ancient Israel from Egypt to Canaan is a type of the journey of God’s people from the bondage of sin to heaven. 5. What did the ancient Israelites encounter, once God led them from Egypt, the house of bondage? Exodus 16:1-3__________________ 6. What did the ancient Israelites desire to eat? Exodus 16:3_____________________________________________________________ 7. What did the Lord give them to eat that day? Exodus 16:12____________________________________________________________ 8. Note: Consider the mercy and longsuffering of God toward His people. The ancient Israelites expressed that they wished to remain in Egypt and receive the plagues, sickness, and even death, so long as they could enjoy their flesh foods. See Exodus 16:3. As it was then, so it is today. As the Lord is determined to lead His people from the bondage of sin, many would rather contract disease and die, and ultimately forfeit heaven, than to give up flesh foods. “At the giving of the manna, just before Israel reached Sinai, the Lord had granted them flesh in answer to their clamors; but it was furnished them for only one day. God might as easily have provided them with flesh as with manna, but a restriction was placed upon them for their good. It was His purpose to supply them with food better suited to their wants than the feverish diet to which many had become accustomed in Egypt. The perverted appetite was to be brought into a more healthy state, that they might enjoy the food originally provided for man--the fruits of the earth, which God gave to Adam and Eve in Eden. It was for this reason that the Israelites had been deprived, in a great measure, of animal food.” {PP 378.1} 9. What did the Lord serve Israel the following day? Exodus 16:13-15______________________________________________________ 10. What was the manna like? Exodus 16:31__________________________________________________________________________ 11. Note: The manna was a representation of the original diet. See Genesis 1:29. 12. Note: When God led Israel from Egypt to Canaan, He changed the diet from a flesh-based to a plant-based diet. None of us will enter heaven eating a flesh-based diet, after we have received truth regarding health reform. “Greater reforms should be seen among the people who claim to be looking for the soon appearing of Christ. Health reform is to do among our people a work which it has not yet done. There are those who ought to be awake to the danger of meat eating, who are still eating the flesh of animals, thus endangering the physical, mental, and spiritual health. Many who are now only half converted on the question of meat eating will go from God's people to walk no more with them.” {CD 382.1} 13. Note: Many Christians who partook of a flesh-based diet will be saved, because they did not receive light or the opportunity to learn of health reform. Consider Acts 17:30. 14. Note: Some people say that since Jesus ate flesh it is okay to eat meat. What they fail to understand is that the Bible says that one primary reason to discard a flesh diet is the increase of disease in animals, birds, and fishes. See Leviticus 17:15,16; Hosea 4:1-3,6. 15. Note: When Israel left Egypt they did not understand health reform, the original diet. So God gave them flesh for one day, once they cried for it. Once the Lord gave them manna as the diet to subsist on, it was a grievous sin when they still cried out for flesh. 16. After this account in Exodus 16, when did the ancient Israelites cry out for flesh food and reject the manna? Answer: They did this at the place called Taberah, which was just a few steps near the borders of Canaan, the earthly promised land. See Numbers 11:2-6. 17. What happened to those who rejected the manna and cried out for flesh? Numbers 11:18-20,31-34_____________________________ 18. As it was then, so it will be in these last days. Many of God’s people are rejecting the manna, the original diet, and are clinging to their perverted diet, including flesh foods, while we are at the border of the heavenly Canaan. 19a. What signs show us that we are at the border of the heavenly Canaan? Luke 17:28-30; Leviticus 18:6,7,27,28 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 19b. “Man has a surrogate baby with his mother” http://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/news/article.cfm?c_id=6&objectid=11413852 19c. “A&E Brings Immoral Swinging Lifestyle to Mainstream TV” http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/watchman-on-the-wall/ 48683-a-e-brings-immoral-swinging-lifestyle-to-mainstream-tv 19d. “Transgender Teen Activist Lands TLC Reality Show” http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/jazz-jennings-lands-tlcdocuseries-780890 19e. “American Baptist College Defends Invite to Lesbian Speaker, Says Christians Make ‘Idol’ of Bible” http://christiannews.net/ 2015/03/12/american-baptist-college-defends-invite-to-lesbian-speaker-says-christians-make-idol-of-bible/ 19f. “Planet Fitness Revokes Woman’s Membership After Speaking Out About Man in Womens’ Locker Room” http:// christiannews.net/2015/03/09/planet-fitness-revokes-womans-membership-after-speaking-out-about-man-in-womens-locker-room/ 19g. “College conservatives branded 'hate group' for refusing LGBT sensitivity training” http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/03/09/ college-conservatives-branded-hate-group-for-refusing-lgbt-sensitivity-training/?intcmp=latestnews 20. Since we are so close to the end, what diet did God gave to the ancient Israelites to live on, until they entered Canaan? Exodus 16:35; Joshua 5:12______________________________________________________________________________________ 21. Where did God tell Moses to put some of the manna? What was the reason for God’s instruction? Exodus 16:32 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 22. Note: The experiences that surrounded the giving of the manna, are today being repeated, in both the literal and spiritual senses. 23. How did God’s professed people respond when Jesus presented to them the manna, Himself, His truth? John 6:58-60,66 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 24. How did the twelve disciples respond when Jesus presented to them the manna, Himself, His truth? John 6:67-69 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 25. As it was then, so it is in these last days. As we have come to the border of the heavenly Canaan, many are rejecting the manna. 26. What is the application of the manna that many are rejecting on the border of the heavenly Canaan? Answer: Revival and reformation. Let us confirm this fact. 27. What does the manna taste like? Numbers 16:31____________________________________________________________________ 28. What effect does the honey have after it is consumed? 1 Samuel 14:27,29________________________________________________ 29. What is the condition of lukewarm Laodiceans, God’s last day people? Revelation 3:14-18___________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 30. Read and following and write your thoughts:________________________________________________________________________ “The only hope for the Laodiceans is a clear view of their standing before God, a knowledge of the nature of their disease.” {4T 87.2} “ A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work. There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it. Our heavenly Father is more willing to give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him, than are earthly parents to give good gifts to their children. But it is our work, by confession, humiliation, repentance, and earnest prayer, to fulfill the conditions upon which God has promised to grant us His blessing. A revival need be expected only in answer to prayer. While the people are so destitute of God's Holy spirit, they cannot appreciate the preaching of the Word; but when the Spirit's power touches their hearts, then the discourses given will not be without effect. Guided by the teachings of God's Word, with the manifestation of His Spirit, in the exercise of sound discretion, those who attend our meetings will gain a precious experience, and returning home, will be prepared to exert a healthful influence.” {1SM 121.1} 31. As it was then, so it is in these last days. As we have come to the border of the heavenly Canaan, many are rejecting the manna. The manna tastes like honey. See Exodus 16:31. Honey is a symbol of end-time Bible prophecies. See Revelation 10:9-11. 32. What events show that we at the border of the heavenly Canaan? 33. Since we are at the border of the heavenly Canaan, what essential truth is connected to the giving of the manna? Exodus 16:21-30. 34. As it was then, so it is in these last days. As we have come to the border of the heavenly Canaan, many are rejecting the manna. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 35. Note: Diet and worship are intimately connected. When God led Israel from Egypt to Canaan, He wanted to give them a taste of the Garden of Eden. In Eden, the Lord gave to Adam and Eve the original diet and the true day of worship, the Sabbath. The Lord desired to restore in the Israelites His image. See Genesis 1:26-29; Genesis 2:1-3. 36. Read and following and write your thoughts:________________________________________________________________________ “Let the diet reform be progressive. Let the people be taught how to prepare food without the use of milk or butter. Tell them that the time will soon come when there will be no safety in using eggs, milk, cream, or butter, because disease in animals is increasing in proportion to the increase of wickedness among men. The time is near when, because of the iniquity of the fallen race, the whole animal creation will groan under the diseases that curse our earth. {7T 135.1} God will give His people ability and tact to prepare wholesome food without these things. Let our people discard all unwholesome recipes. Let them learn how to live healthfully, teaching to others what they have learned. Let them impart this knowledge as they would Bible instruction. Let them teach the people to preserve the health and increase the strength by avoiding the large amount of cooking that has filled the world with chronic invalids. By precept and example make it plain that the food which God gave Adam in his sinless state is the best for man's use as he seeks to regain that sinless state.” {7T 135.2} “We are coming to the time when recipes for cooking will not be needed, for God's people will learn that the food God gave Adam in his sinless state is the best for keeping the body in a sinless state.” {21MR 286.3} 37. What is necessary to develop and manifest patience and godliness? 2 Peter 1:5,6___________________________________________ “If we subsist largely upon the flesh of dead animals, we shall partake of their nature. A meat diet changes the disposition, and strengthens animalism. . . . To educate your children to subsist on a meat diet would be harmful to them. Its use excites the animal propensities to increased activity, and strengthens the animal passions. When the animal propensities are increased, the intellectual and moral powers are decreased. The use of the flesh of animals . . . benumbs the fine sensibilities of the mind. It is impossible for those who make free use of flesh meats to have an unclouded brain and an active intellect. Students would accomplish much more in their studies if they never tasted meat. When the animal part of the human nature is strengthened by meat eating, the intellectual powers diminish proportionately. {HL 101.7} 38. Note: The faithful Israelites ate manna until they entered the earthly promised land of Canaan. The manner in which the manna fell is a symbol to us of how to have personal devotion with Jesus. 39. At what time of the day were the Israelites to gather the manna? Exodus 16:21_____________________________________________ 40. What was the experience of Jesus? Mark 1:35______________________________________________________________________ 41. What will be the result of such communion with Jesus? Isaiah 50:4-9____________________________________________________ 42. What fell along with the manna? Numbers 11:9_____________________________________________________________________ 43. What is the dew a symbol of? Deuteronomy 32:2___________________________________________________________________ 44. “An intensity such as never before was seen is taking possession of the world. In amusement, in moneymaking, in the contest for power, in the very struggle for existence, there is a terrible force that engrosses body and mind and soul. In the midst of this maddening rush, God is speaking. He bids us come apart and commune with Him. ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’ Psalm 46:10. {Ed 260.2} Many, even in their seasons of devotion, fail of receiving the blessing of real communion with God. They are in too great haste. With hurried steps they press through the circle of Christ's loving presence, pausing perhaps a moment within the sacred precincts, but not waiting for counsel. They have no time to remain with the divine Teacher. With their burdens they return to their work. {Ed 260.3} These workers can never attain the highest success until they learn the secret of strength. They must give themselves time to think, to pray, to wait upon God for a renewal of physical, mental, and spiritual power. They need the uplifting influence of His Spirit. Receiving this, they will be quickened by fresh life. The wearied frame and tired brain will be refreshed, the burdened heart will be lightened. {Ed 260.4} Not a pause for a moment in His presence, but personal contact with Christ, to sit down in companionship with Him--this is our need.” {Ed 261.1}
