SeedProgram Research Assistant Application
The SocioEconomic Evaluation of Dietary Decisions (SEED) Program is a research
collaboration between the NYU School of Medicine and NYU Global Institute of Public Health.
Research initiatives focus on issues related to food policy, obesity, and health disparities. Our
objective is to provide policymakers and organizations in the US and global community with
empirically-supported guidance on improving the world’s diet.
Interns will have the opportunity to:
o Gain research experience relevant to grad school, medical school, etc.
o Earn letters of recommendation
o Develop skills related to data collection and analysis
o Recruit and run participants
o Co-author manuscripts, IRB applications, and conference presentations
o Develop independent projects (undergraduate/masters thesis, etc.)
o Use specific skill sets (graphic design, language translation, etc.)
Examples of current research topics include, but are not limited to:
o Effects of food marketing (targeting vulnerable populations)
o Examination of obesity and food policies in the U.S.
o Use of celebrity endorsements in food marketing
o Assessing the use of food and beverage marketing in developing countries
o Exploring parallels between tobacco and food companies
We are also interested in applicants with the following additional skills: Adobe Photoshop,
Spanish language, website design, graphic design
